The 1950s and the 1980s really weren't so different from each other were they?

OK so there were more TVs per household in the 80s, and branded underwear had made an appearance. And plutonium was easier to come by in the 80s.

But the similarities! Marty was able to use his 80s coin in the 50s payphone. And hook up his video camera to a 50s television.

Think 30 years the other way (not the second film but actual reality) and he would have struggled a lot more! You can't even use a modern smart phone charger to charge a mobile from 10 years ago!

You wouldn’t really be able to connect anything to a 1950s television.

A quick Google suggests it's doable.

I know we have to suspend a certain amount of disbelief for this film Wink but some of it is accurate.

I've just watched this, I'd forgotten how great it was.

DH was grumbling though because he wondered why Marty's parents didn't remember that they'd already met him in the 50s, and why weren't they confused about it.

@Teenagequeenwithaloadedgun I like to think he had a Men in Black memory wipe type device which was activated off screen.

My son saw it for the first time today and enjoyed it. It's a great story but I really think the time difference aspect of getting more and more lost with each passing year.

I'll tell that to DH, apparently it's been bothering him for a long time Grin
