Anyone here good at framing things?

I have attempted to frame some of DS's swimming caps, when I say attempted to frame I mean I have bought a frame and stuck it in. But it has loads of little bubbles or something and it looks a bit odd. I have attached a photo but I'm not sure if you can see properly. Any ideas anyone?

They are air bubbles between the cap and the glass.

It would probably be best to pad it with cardboard so the cap is rigid and mount it in a box/shadow frame.

The problem is that the rubber cap will degrade, go stiff and break down in a few years. You can slow the process down by using UV glass and hanging it out of direct sunlight. If it is in a box frame, you won't have the issue of it sticking to the glass when it degrades and being totally destroyed if you need to reframe it but it may come away from where it has been mounted over time.

If you want it to last, you might be best getting it framed by a professional who has experience in preserving items and restoration (not just a frame shop).

You can try rubbing the cap in talcum powder first. Some of my swimming caps have lasted 30 years. But they are in a drawer too.
