Glorious. Can't remember if I'd seen it before, as it's from 2016. Follows the casting and rehearsals for the Royal Ballet Nutcracker that year, including some of the children from White Lodge, final year students from the Upper School and Francesca Hayward preparing to dance the Sugar Plum Fairy for the first time.
I never had the chance to do ballet as a child and looking back 50+ years I can see I would have struggled with it, as I was short-sighted, left-handed and really not well co-ordinated.
Ah well. I made up by reading lots of Lorna Hill books and Ballet Shoes. In an alternate reality, I would have had a totally different build and I'd have gone to the Royal Ballet School and become a prima ballerina.
I really enjoyed watching these youngsters who are on their way to living my dream.
