Has anyone submitted a car insurance claim online?

I was involved in a collision with another car earlier today and the Esure office isn’t open until tomorrow.
I have the option to submit details of the claim online but I’m not sure whether to do this or wait to talk to someone in their office in the morning.
I’m not sure why I’m hesitant but I’ve not made a claim for about 20 years and this wasn’t an option back then!

Please do it online.

All your insurers need is the accident details. The online form will ask for all the info you need and makes life much easier for the insurance company than having to try and speak to you on the phone. They'll ring you if the accident circs are complicated or if a venerable road user was involved

I submitted an online claim a year ago after someone reversed into DH, he had to draw a diagram, take photos of damage etc and submit online which was a bit of a faff but was all fine other than that

I did a few years ago after a car’s handbrake failed and it rolled down a hill and in my parked car. I preferred it, as I could formulate exactly how to word what had happened and rephrase as necessary before submitting, as well as adding photos at the same time.
I think I spoke to someone once in the whole process, which was to organise collection of the courtesy car.

I’ve done it but the other driver isn’t accepting that it was their fault so we’ll have to see how it goes. I’m anticipating a bit of a delay as the insurers offices have been closed for a few days over Christmas.

Had something similar last week. I registered online. The person who hit me admitted full responsibility and their insurance company was amazing - hire car sorted and car booked in for fixing. My insurance contacted me via email nearly two days later asking me to send photos…I had already done that on the online form. I was hugely disappointed I phoned them to say change the request to just inform as the other insurance company was so organised!!

Made me realise I won’t be renewing with this insurance company!!

I did it recently after waiting for ages on the phone for someone to answer. It was really simple and I heard back from them via email really quickly, with them having arranged for my car to go into a garage to be fixed and set up a hire car for me without needing to speak with anyone. Even if you speak on phone instead, you will probably still have to send on photos of the damage so just as well getting started online. My insurance company also have an online chat function where you can get advice quite quickly. I send it recently to update contact details.

Don't be do harsh. Lots of people are off on holidays and the online registration doesn't always show the photos so the person asking may not have seen them.
The only reason the other insurer got to you so fast is be arsed dedicated teams are instructed to get you to keep costs down. If you start instructing your own hire company or garage the coats are out of their control.
