We have a 30 year old sound system which is on its last legs.
Time to replace, but how do people do music these days? I literally haven't a clue.
It'll mean migrating from vinyl and CDs to playlists, but I don't quite know where to start; is it as simple as just setting up a bluetooth speaker and moving it between rooms or multiple speakers? Or is it more complicated, requiring some kind of installation?
On what platforms do people download and compile music?
I'm definitely looking 'entry level' as opposed to top of the range.
Would be really grateful for advice!

A Sonos system is what you want, you have a smart speaker in each room (where you want to have music) and you control them via an app. They are very easy to set up and use. You don’t need to download music nowadays , you just use a streaming service ie. Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon etc. for which you pay a monthly subscription fee.

Hope that helps

Thank you, Pineapple! We've been away and this request disappeared from my attention span for a few days.
The Sonos system looks great, and thank you for the pointer re Spotify etc.

We use Sonos and Spotify. We have an old Sonos One in the kitchen and a Sonos Five in the living room. If you have a record player with a pre amp you can plug that into the Sonos Five too.

When you use Spotify you can choose which speaker to play music from. On the Sonos app you can group the speakers so that the same music comes out of all of them.

We have a family account on Spotify which means that for one monthly payment you can have up to 6 (I think?) accounts. Handy as DH and me have our own accounts, and the tween has one too.

I object on principle to subscription services... so I use an MP3 player and Bluetooth speaker. The downside is all the time spent ripping CDs.

What's the principle on subscription services?

I'm glad I don't have that principle or goodbye Broadband, Sky, Netflix, Prime, iPhone, Spotify, Apple Fitness+...........and the ones I can't think of off the top of my head!

Well I don't watch television at all so it wouldn't bother me in the least.
Broadband is a service IMO.
