Has anyone ever managed to get an issue resolved with LookFantastic?

Hello all, I'm hoping you'll have some all advice because I'm ready for tearing my hair out! Sorry this will be long but I want to make sure I've got all the info in!

I ordered Christmas gifts for my sister at midnight on the 20th with next day delivery so it would definitely arrive in time. Later that day I got a dispatch email saying it would arrive on the 21st. It didn't but I wasn't too worried at that point as I'd ordered before without issue and thought with NDD it would still arrive on time even if it was late. By the evening of the 23rd it still hadn't arrived so I checked the tracking and it showed that they hadn't even sent it to the courier! So they lied about dispatching?! The next day a customer service rep slipped up and confirmed it hadn't been dispatched. This really annoyed me as they were sending me emails advertising delivery in time for Christmas with NDD on the 23rd when they couldn't fulfil my order from the 20th?! Surely this is false advertisement because they knew they were either unable or were struggling to fulfil orders?

By the afternoon of the 24th there was still no sign of it so I had to go out and re-buy the items in store. I've asked LF multiple times to cancel the order and refund me since it hasn't been posted yet and I don't need it anymore. They keep refusing and saying it's too late as it's already been posted and when I point out that's not the case they don't acknowledge what I've said?! I've been in contact with them every day since the 23rd and am still no further forward and the tracking is still showing that they haven't sent the parcel.

Their customer service is so bad it's actually shocked me. There's no option to call them and the live chat has been unavailable since I first checked on the 23rd. So the only options for contacting them are Twitter or the email form on the website. The Twitter account is useless. They seem to have set responses that they copy and paste so they don't answer any questions and the email form isn't much better. The replies are slow, every reply you get is from a different person and they ignore most of what you say/ask.

Normally I would save myself the hassle of dealing with this kind of thing and just return the order when it gets here but I've now read so many horror stories on their social media ie, customers who ordered early November who still haven't had their order and LF are still refusing to refund?!?! I've seen some people say it seems they are selling items that they don't have in stock and are stringing you along til they get the items back in. They also charge for returns but say they will cover the cost if the return is due to a fault on their part, however, I've seen so many people saying they didn't get reimbursed for the returns fee. So I really want them to just cancel the order! Also, the order was expensive for me, so I'm gutted
I had to buy it again and want the money back ASAP.

Yesterday one of the customer service reps agreed to refund me so I replied thanking her but then the next reply was from yet another member of staff who replied saying they wouldn't refund me! And now they're back to the same old script. I could have screamed when I saw that next email after being so relieved that I was getting a refund!! I have it in writing that I was told I could have a refund, can they really renege on that?!

Has anyone had any joy getting an issue resolved by their customer service? Any tips for what I can say, any rights I have etc?

Oooh no idea but I am in the middle of raising an issue about poor quality make up, will be interesting to see what they come back with....

Did you pay with PayPal? I’ve had success getting my money back via them previously. It was really easy. I just sent screenshots of relevant emails/live chat etc and they refunded on behalf of the retailer.

Had an issue with an electrical beauty product bought off their website which didn’t work correctly, they were not interested in it being returned for a refund and told me to contact the manufacturer. This did surprise me. The manufacturer did sort it out eventually, took quite a lot of email exchanges and software updates. It has put me off buying any further electronic items from them. Look Fantastic were not interested at all.

@Gobbolinothekitchencat That is awful!! I honestly don't know how they get away with this stuff. I feel like they must be breaking some sort of consumer law or something?!

I’m having a similar issue with My Protein which is also part of the HUT Group. I received part of my order but one item was missing and I suspect it was never actually in stock. It was supposed to be a Christmas present but fortunately it was only for DH so I’ve agreed to wait another week to see if it turns up.

I could only get through on Facebook messenger as there’s a recorded message on the phone saying no one will answer and live chat is also down.

I've had this with lancombe, they told me an item was out of stock, offered me a refund, no saying I need to prove I haven't had the refund by sending screen shots of my bank account. BUT they tell me they haven't refunded me! Makes no sense at all.
Luckily I pay with PayPal so will raise a case with them.
Good luck with your issue with LF. I did receive a replacement order from them a couple of years ago after a battle!

Even if you paid by debit card, it is still sometimes possible to sort these things out although it can take a bit longer than it would with a credit card. It's definitely worth phoning your bank to ask if there's anything they can do for you.

Didn’t realise they were HUT group. I’ve had terrible experiences with them in the past.

Last year my order arrived on time and I eagerly opened it to find I had been sent an empty box.
Messaged over fb and problem was solved in 30 minutes

No advice sorry but you have my sympathy. I ordered a set of shampoo and conditioner for dd for Christmas. I've only received the conditioner. I've emailed them and they want me to print off and sign (in ink, like it's some sort of legal document!) a disclaimer form to confirm I've not received the goods. Then I'm hoping they'll refund but, honestly, what a palaver. I'm sure some people might try it on but when you are a customer with a genuine problem it's a bit of a pain to have to print stuff off and sign it before they'll investigate further.

Caveat Emptor, LF are great until something goes wrong then forget it. Once they have your money you will not get it back without a fight. Open a paypal claim if you paid that way, or a section 75 if it was over £100 on a credit card. They also do not publish poor reviews of the products they sell.

I have stopped using them for this reason. Previous to that I always used PayPal but you can still claim through your bank.

I’ve not had issues with LookFantastic but I have with Zavvi, which surprise surprise is also part of the hut group.
Basically I bought an item that they were advertising was in stock but it wasn’t. They knew they were going to get it back in stock but they couldn’t tell me when Hmm
After five weeks of waiting and no change I gave up and cancelled the order. Every time I contacted them it was the same. We have ordered it from our suppliers but they cannot tell us when it will be sent to us. That’s no good when you need it for a gift! I imagine lookfantastic do something similar. Allow items to be bought when there not in stock only to send it out when they finally receive it. Whenever that may be!

Sorry so many of you had similarly shit experiences! Funny that some of you have mentioned The Hut Group because I also ordered a couple of stocking fillers for my boyfriend from there and they didn't turn up on time either despite them advertising delivery in time tor Christmas up until the 23rd. I wasn't too bothered about those as they were inexpensive but now a bit concerned that returns process will be a big faff!!

Today is the 7th working day since I ordered and they said if I contacted them on this date they would open an investigation, so I've emailed them. Looking forward to see what nonsense they come out with next!

The rocking fillers were from IWOOT that should say and they're also owned by the hut group

On the 28th they messaged me saying they were going to process my refund and I would get it in 3-5 days but I contacted them last night as I hadn't received the funds or even an email confirming the order cancellation. They've replied saying my order hasn't been cancelled as it has already been posted! So back to the original script.

This is the second time they've told me I'm getting a refund only to backtrack. And I still haven't had the items! I'm so frustrated I could cry! I've asked them to tell me how to escalate the complaint.

Please anyone reading this, do yourself a favour and don't order from them. When the order runs smoothly they're great but if anything goes wrong it's like talking to a brick wall.
