West end shows suitable for an 8 year old girl.

Dd and I have been to see Matilda and Mary Poppins and we’ve enjoyed both of them a lot. I’d happily keep going back to the same things but I think we should probably expand our list!
What other west end productions are suitable for an 8 year old child do you think? Is Six appropriate? What else?
I guess I’m looking for recommendations for shows that are not just aimed for children although I appreciate that the ones we’ve seen so far are children’s books!

The lyrics for Six are a little risqué so 8 is probably a little young. The official guidance is 10+ but depends how you feel about it.

Hairspray was wonderful recently. The Play That Goes Wrong also went down well with my 9 year old. Ditto Wicked.

Frozen is worth seeing for the production design - best set design ever. It was entertaining enough but I wasn’t that blown away by it. Lion King is always good.

School of Rock is on tour or planned to (subject to covid). That’s my kids favourite show.

Zodlebud makes some good suggestions. I'd also add Wicked to the list.

Lion king

Were in the north west but when it made its way up here my daughter really enjoyed Annie.

Angelmonkey · 27/12/2021 10:58

Lion king definitely.
I’m taking my 6 year old to see six next year - she knows all the songs already, the more risqué lyrics go over her head. There’s no bad language, just a few suggestive lyrics

ouchmyfeet · 27/12/2021 11:01

Three generations of my family enjoyed school of rock

simonthedog · 27/12/2021 11:03

Aladdin

CornishGem1975 · 27/12/2021 11:03

Mamma Mia. Took my DD when she was that age and we've since been twice more!

follygirl · 27/12/2021 11:04

I love Wicked

CornishGem1975 · 27/12/2021 11:06

@follygirl

I love Wicked
Yes, my DD enjoyed that one too.

She also enjoyed Grease.

SundayTeatime · 27/12/2021 11:09

Lion King. Wicked.
I wouldn’t think Grease would be suitable.

Ohsugarhoneyicetea · 27/12/2021 11:11

My kids really enjoyed this:

@SundayTeatime

Lion King. Wicked. I wouldn’t think Grease would be suitable.
Why is Grease not suitable?

I went to see The Show that Goes Wrong with DS2, who is older. He loved it, but there were younger children around us absolutely roaring with laughter Smile

AdriannaP · 27/12/2021 11:31

Frozen

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 27/12/2021 11:36

Following as we hope to take DDs this year! they are 8&10.

Our potential list was Frozen and Lion King (although DH wasn't too keen on idea of Frozen) so would like other ideas.

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 27/12/2021 11:42

Wicked is amazing

FilterFrog · 27/12/2021 12:22

Oh thank you everyone. Some great suggestions.
I think she’d love The Show that went wrong so that’s top of the list. Still tempted by Six and also Wicked.
Dd isn’t keen on the lion king for some reason.
Also on the list now are Frozen, Mamma Mia. School of Rock would have been perfect.

I hadn’t considered Ocean at The End of the Lane. If definitely like to see that!

Another vote for Mamma Mia. She also loved Billy Elliott at that age, although I think the lyrics are probably inappropriate. She did not like Matilda or the Lion King, fell asleep in both.
