New notebook for Xmas - what should I write in it?

Very lighthearted! I got a lovely new notebook for Christmas. Any ideas on what I should use it for?
I love a new notebook but if I pick the wrong thing it will obviously be ruined Grin

What would you use it for?

I'm in exactly the same position so following with interest! I was just reading the thread about people's goals for 2022 so maybe something like that? Could divide into sections eg self-care, finances etc?

crispsinasandwich · 27/12/2021 09:17

At the end of each day write down three things that you are grateful for or things that happened that made you happy/smile.

When you are feeling not great you can look at the book to remind yourself of the good things in your life.

I have done this in the past and am going to try and start again.

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 27/12/2021 09:18

Do you think you'd ever write a book? That's what I'm going to use mine for.

Gingerbreadrules · 27/12/2021 09:21

I don't know, and literally never have any idea what to write in nice notebooks. I need to make notes all the time, but they are never things I want to keep, they are things written on scraps of paper that get thrown away once finished with. I'm not really sure what nice notebooks are for. Mine just collect dust.

Groapple · 27/12/2021 09:23

Use it for your daily to-do lists. Don’t save it, it’ll never get used. Enjoy it every day now for something useful.

DurhamDurham · 27/12/2021 09:27

I tend to save mine for far too long while I think of something artsy and meaningful. Then I just use them to write out weekly shopping list out on.

MyGreenTutu · 27/12/2021 09:32

I have three nice notebooks on the go:

One is for recording when we have people over for dinner and what I've cooked for them (so I don't repeat the same menu next time)

One is for Xmas and birthday lists (so I can see what I have bought people over the years).

The third one is a record of the house and what we do to it year by year eg "June 2021: new carpet in back bedroom, brand/colourway, John Lewis, total cost=£x" or "Oct 2021- planted silver birch on the corner of the the driveway, cost = £x". It's quite useful to be able to look back and see when things were done and who we used to do them without having to leaf through piles of receipts, and useful to have a record of paint colours etc. I will leave this one behind when we move; it belongs to the house.

Love these ideas, lots to think about Grin

@BlameItOnTheBlackStar I’d love to write a book but not sure I have the commitment to see it through. My mum wrote several so I know how much hard work it is

I've got a notebook that I still use from 2007. I write my Christmas gift lists for other people, Christmas menu/food shopping needed and dcs birthday party venue, costs and friends invited (plus gifts received) in it. I love looking back in it to see what we had for Christmas dinner 10 years ago (used to live overseas so Christmas dinner was very different back then!)

batmanladybird · 27/12/2021 20:13

Love these

Grumpyosaurus · 27/12/2021 20:40

Could you use it as a bullet journal? I am quite forgetful and woefully disorganised, and complete convert to bullet journals, complete with stickers, felt-tips and doodles. I actually get stuff now.

Grumpyosaurus · 27/12/2021 20:41

Get stuff DONE now.
You see what I'm up against with myself. Grin

Poetrypatty · 27/12/2021 20:46

Poems
Bucket lists
Travel plans
Top 10 lists like your favourite songs, films, books

Ratched · 27/12/2021 20:52

I have had dozens of lovely notebooks over the years, and lots of plans for them that have never materialised.
BUT
I was given a beautiful hardback notebook about 12 years ago that I use for everything. Menus for Xmas, gift ideas, lists of things to pack for holidays, to do lists, new year resolutions.....everything.
I love flicking back through and reading what I packed to go to Thailand 8 years ago, and what we ate on Boxing Day 2012!
Don't be precious with it, or you will forget it. Use it, and enjoy😁

CantStartaFireWithoutaSpark · 27/12/2021 20:52

Daily to do lists and weekly goals.

A goal can be as simple as cooking dinner 6/7 days or Shaving your legs 😂

itsgettingweird · 27/12/2021 21:12

I have loads of notebooks Grin

One is for shopping lists

One for ds swimming

One for household stuff

One for general ramblings and doodles and ideas that often get transferred into relevant notebook when formed!

One for work!

longtompot · 27/12/2021 21:14

I used to always write my name on the first page, in my bestest handwriting. Went downhill from there Grin

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 27/12/2021 21:17

Well, if you want suggestions, I can offer what DS1 has written on my first page of my new notebook

"Hello future, I smell wonderful"

Umm, thanks? ConfusedGrin

EssexLioness · 27/12/2021 21:35

@FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack I love that! 😆

I have th same dilemma OP and decided to use it to record my goals and progress for 2022. I lost a lot of weight this year and next year I want to focus on getting fit and generally improving my health.

My first temptation was to keep it unused so I didn’t ‘waste’ it but realised how silly this would be.

Pebbles16 · 27/12/2021 22:02

I have a beautiful Bullet Journal waiting to be set up; but DH also bought me a delicious Japanese lined book and calligraphy dipper pens so I am going to use that one to practise - even though it may not be perfect and I may have moments when I don't get it right, I know that the two presents are meant to go together and I am not supposed to practise on old envelopes!

JaneJeffer · 27/12/2021 22:44

I've posted this before but I'm not good with new notebooks!
