Hi all,

I've got a group of couples coming over for New Years. Has anyone got recommendations for games/board games that you've bought and played?

One couple is new so don't want too rude but something fun that's recommended. Not the trivial pursuit type of game- just something fun for after desert and a few drinks.

TIA

Pictionary
Rapido
Uno
Taco cat goat cheese pizza

INeedNewShoes · 26/12/2021 22:06

Articulate
Cranium
Pictionary

are all good fun and tend to go down well.

INeedNewShoes · 26/12/2021 22:07

Oh there's also a card game called 'You've got crabs' which is very good fun (and not as rude as it sounds)

skippy67 · 26/12/2021 22:30

Articulate.

MrsDThaskala · 27/12/2021 10:55

Thanks. articulate is a classic.

Throw Throw Burrito is good.

AnImposter · 27/12/2021 11:07

We got Jackbox party games for Xmas and it went down an absolute treat! As long as you all have a smartphone! It's brilliant!

CovidPassQuestion · 27/12/2021 11:08

Cash and guns

Mabelface · 27/12/2021 11:18

Jackbox is really good. Played it last night with kids and exh.

Palavah · 27/12/2021 11:20

@INeedNewShoes

Articulate Cranium Pictionary

are all good fun and tend to go down well.

All classics and fun.

I'd get an easel, flip chart paper and marker pens for pictionary, makes it more of an event and easier to see.

New one this year that was very simple to play but created a lot of laughs was Herd Mentality.

Everyone writes down an answer to the same (silly) question and you win if you write the most popular answer.

Better with a small crowd.

Sn0tnose · 27/12/2021 12:33

Articulate and the Logo game are favourites in our house.

Bluntness100 · 27/12/2021 12:35

Trivial pursuits, I just bought it again and forgot how good it was.

GetTheStartyParted · 27/12/2021 12:36

Articulate and Herd Mentality are favourites here

RedPandaFluff · 27/12/2021 12:36

Second Herd Mentality - we had a lot of fun playing it over Christmas, and it's really simple.

CodenameEgg · 27/12/2021 12:46

Just posted this one in another thread:

It's clean, so adults and kids can play, but the challenges are hilarious. New Phone Who Dis? Was funny as well, like Cards Against Humanity really and Secret Hitler is a really good one.

MrsDThaskala · 27/12/2021 16:57

Thanks. Googling all suggestions.

Chameleon is the best party game in my opinion! Easy rules and hilarious!

WisestIsShe · 27/12/2021 18:51

Linkee is really good fun.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 27/12/2021 18:51

Articulate for sure.

Also Good is Spoons- deck of cards and 1 less spoon than you have players. Stand in a circle around the table, spoons in the middle.

Everyone has 4 cards. One person has the deck next to them, picks up a card and then discards one to the other side of themselves for the next person to pick up. Cards move around the table as people pick up and put down. First to 4 of a kind shouts SPOONS! and everyone grabs a spoon - whoever doesnt is out.

Remove a spoon each time someone is knocked out.

We've enjoyed Pandemic. It's one where all players work together rather than against each other. I'd recommend having a go of it before your get together to work out the rules.
