I wanted to see if anyone knows/could help me. I am self employed and back at work now after taking maternity leave. Whilst I was on maternity I claimed maternity allowance benefit which you’re entitled to being self employed. I googled previously and it said that this wasn’t taxable….but now I’m trying to fill in my face return which a few months of that year was when I was receiving this benefit.
In the section that asks “did you receive a pension or any other state benefits?” I ticked yes, but then when it comes to that section it just asks me how much pension did I receive. Have I ticked the wrong thing? Do you include maternity allowance into a tax return? Any guidance would be much appreciated!
