Gravy..

Reading on AIBU about lack of gravy on a Christmas dinner.. It was a lighthearted thread and quite funny.. But...I'm reading it with tears running down my face..
You see my Darling Mother has forgotten how to make gravy. One of her many little episodes and now finally diagnosed with dementia..
Her gravy was absolutely wonderful and Christmas day saw us all sneaking into the kitchen for a spoonful.. She knew and told me she always made extra..
I live a long way from them and when I was there a few weeks ago she served what can only be described as lukewarm dish water...I had to leave the room to wipe my eyes.. My dad noticed and later hugged me and said he's eaten some rotten meals but doesn't want to take away the pleasure she gets from cooking...
I was due to travel to them today but my youngest tested positive for covid last week so we cancelled.
I am just so sad today..about gravy..

It's always the littlest things that can set you off isn't it. My dad passed away 5 years ago and I cried in the bath the other night over geography! My DH isn't the best at geography so when looking at a certain items on ebay he was shouting out where they were located and I was telling him where they where and how long a drive, I then had a few tears as the reason I'm good at geography is because dad was a lorry driver and as a child I'd go along with him and read the A-Z or he'd come home and tell me where he'd been that day and where it was. Even as I was having a little cry I was also having a little laugh at how it was such a daft little thing to get upset about.
