What the hell did I do to my neck and shoulder?

Woke up with a random and very painful neck and right shoulder. Hurts to lift my coffee mug.

I literally did nothing yesterday but drive, sit, and eat.

Tf?

Could be frozen shoulder which, in my case, came out of nowhere. If it is you’re in for a long recovery. Hope it’s not!!

Hope you feel better soon.

Wry neck

Yep! Wry neck can come overnight and takes ages to go . It's so painful!

Thanks. It's getting worse. Just throbbing pain even when I'm sitting still. I've just cancelled my Boxing Day plans. Waiting for shops to open because I'm out of ibuprofen.

Everytime I do a long drive I end up with this. (Doing a 500 mile round trip every other weekend with poorly parents) But I now have a heated pad I use..A hot water bottle and a massage will help.. I think its from the tension of holding the wheel.. It's definately worse in bad weather..
I've had a frozen shoulder too but that didn't really effect my neck, just deep in the joint.

I have woken up with the exact same thing! Also my right side. Such a pain as I've loads to do and 3 little ones to look after Sad

Did any of you feel stiff last night?

I drove for about two hours yesterday, which is not that long but a lot longer than I usually drive.

I was weight lifting a lot last week but can't think that is it.

No other symptoms but I took an LFT (it was negative).

No didn't feel stiff last night but was awake overnight with a sore/tickly throat and it had started to feel stiff by then. I tried changing position but it didn't help.

I'm full of the cold (have tested negative) but have been for at least a week now.

Going to try some ibuprofen to see if it helps. Hope you get some respite!

“ No other symptoms but I took an LFT”.

This has got to the biggest stretch anyones had so far Confused Covid shoulder?!

foreverandalways · 26/12/2021 09:17

Frozen shoulder...pay privately for cortisone injections...game changer...good luck...I would prefer to give birth naturally 😕

Coffeetree · 26/12/2021 09:25

A virus can cause stiffness. I know I seems silly but better to test before I head out to shops.

Speaking of Covid, just remembered that I had my booster on 23rd. Felt fine and went to the gym straight after. Could be that?

It’s most likely to be wry neck or adult torticollis (otherwise known as “slept funny on it”

Anything to do with covid or boosters is unlikely

Take anti inflammatories and rest. You should be able to start gently stretching it out in 2-3 days

Coffeetree · 26/12/2021 09:49

Thanks guys. I'm using it as an excuse to have the laziest boxing day ever. Lunch cancelled. 5k cancelled. Big clean--cancelled.

Have you had an open window/breeze on it? Eg car window or an own window in the house for anti covid ventilation?

AnyFucker · 26/12/2021 09:57

Sounds like a plan Xmas Smile
