We’re doing party food! I’m loving it, no stress, just some lovely M&S and Asda party food to put in and take out the oven…

we are having roast beef sandwiches and party food. Its lovely and so much more relaxing

TweeBee · 25/12/2021 14:31

We are too! DS has covid and is well but very sad at the change of plans so we agreed he could choose a load of party food and he was made up. I'm not a big fan of roast dinners so I'm happy too!

Abraxan · 25/12/2021 14:31

We are currently on our way to meet friends for a curry. Been our Christmas meal for the past few meals.

Taking parents and MIL with us this year.

mulledwineshine · 25/12/2021 14:34

We have party food and will be eating out later. I am still in my pyjamas and have even had a nap on the couch. Very chilled out day here. Kids are playing with toys and I'm loving it.

ToastCrumbsOnAPlate · 25/12/2021 14:36

We're having something from the freezer. No point in cooking xmas lunch here as we're all recovering from covid and are exhausted and can't taste very well.

DementedPanda · 25/12/2021 14:39

We are having steak, asparagus, grilled tomorrow and mushroom. The dc are having whatever they fancy, prob pizza, sarnies picky stuff. I'm doing our Roast tomorrow.

DementedPanda · 25/12/2021 14:39

Tomato... not tomorrow HmmGrin

MrOctopus · 25/12/2021 15:08

Isn’t it lovely not to have the pressure?
I spent the entire day last Christmas in the kitchen. By time I was done, no one fancied it! So it’s a nice chilled out Xmas this year.
Hope all with covid are recovering and enjoying the day as best they can!

Christmas afternoon tea here! Just about to lay it all out. Yum yum, (no) pigs bum!

Tay17 · 25/12/2021 15:27

Don’t beat yourself up! You’re allowed to have feelings and react, you are human!
I hope you can see your dad another day over Christmas and have a nice rest of the day with your Mum x

DontKeepTheFaith · 25/12/2021 15:27

Party food here too, plus gammon and roast potatoes🥺 Bit random but basically what everyone wanted.

I hate cooking roast dinner and usually work either on Christmas Day or around it so am always tired. I worked yesterday and am back tomorrow so can’t be arsed.

Really looking forward to it. Had cheese and crackers for lunch, boozy hot choccie just now…..all very chilled out😎

Me and DB were going to have a christmas dinner today but we have had to change some plans so he is not coming so I am going to have a curry and we will meet up tomorrow / monday instead

Rowgtfc72 · 25/12/2021 16:04

We had pizza!

Figgyboa · 25/12/2021 16:07

I'm having xmas with my Mexican in-laws....lots of traditional food for us - tamales, carnitas, home made tortillas, menudo etc

GregTheEgg · 25/12/2021 16:18

I put stew in the oven while we went for a walk (having posted on the thread the other day saying I never leave the oven on when I’m out! Blush ). Came home and popped the dumplings on top and dinner was ready in half an hour. Perfect.

Ilikewinter · 25/12/2021 16:23

We had chicken, stuffing and pigs in blankets on a baguette... ... absolutely delicious!

MrsClatterbuck · 25/12/2021 19:10

We did have a roast dinner today but it was the least faff one yet. I now refuse fo do a big joint and as there was only the 2 of us I did a half leg of lamb joint. Roughly 100 mins in oven and I did do my own roast potatoes but the rest were basically out of fridge/ freezer into oven or saucepan. Gravy from supermarket deli just add a drop of port and some redcurrant jelly. M&S croquettes and local firms stuffing already in a tray. Both into oven. Rest of veg into steamer. Even had a couple of sit downs with a cup of tea. DH didn't see the glass of wine when he was cutting up the carrots

I usually serve party food as a starter but didn't bother this year so will be having it a little later. All these ideas are really appealing to me so may change tack next year.

KohlaParasaurus · 25/12/2021 19:25

We had pizza and cheesecake at lunchtime. DH doesn't cook and would live on biscuits and crisps if left to his own devices. It's just the two of us this year, which has never happened before, so I decided to serve something that would create as little washing up as possible. I'll make sandwiches before settling down to watch Call the Midwife.
