BBC roast timer says a 5 kg turkey takes around 4 hours to cooks. Mine's been in for just 2 and looks like any further cooking would turn it to charcoal. I've poked it all over with a meat thermometer which says it's done. Now my brain is melting down over the conflict between the evidence of my own eyes and what the BBC says. I need more chocolate!

I would never cook a Turkey for 4 hours! Not unless it was a behemoth! 2 hours sounds about right.

That's good to hear. I don't trust my own judgement so was relying on the superior knowledge of the BBC food guide.
