Normally my DH is a bit rubbish at presents, but this year he has struck gold. I mentioned a while back that I'd like a new coat, a proper wool one. Imagine my surprise when I opened this beauty this morning.

I'm so surprised, normally he does all his shopping on Amazon and I get something tangentially related to a hobby.

Please everyone share what presents you have enjoyed this year.

That coat is beautiful.
I got a load of books, which I pointed him in the right direction for, so am happy

TheMooch · 25/12/2021 13:10

I got a tin of quality street full of only orange creams. They are my absolute favourite.

I am very happy.

Prettyconfused · 25/12/2021 13:15

My husband got me something I really really wanted but didn’t know it was even possible to get. Took some real hunting it seems.

I’m really impressed and happy (he’s usually awesome anyway) :) I didn’t even ask for it? But he knew I’d love it.

‘Nuff with the gushing but I figured a bit of positivity about husbands/partners won’t hurt :)

I got a lovely necklace. Nothing expensive, a local crafter made it, but I really like it. Dh's presents are usually along the practical line so I wasn't expecting this.

MrsPnut · 25/12/2021 13:18

That coat is lovely.
I got the perfume I asked for which is all I wanted, I am trying to reduce the amount of stuff I have so less is more.

I did also get a book of gin cocktails which we are going to try some of tonight.

Ibane · 25/12/2021 13:18

A lithograph from a local artist I really admire and a very gorgeous Shibumi kimono.

Brunilde · 25/12/2021 13:25

For the past 2 years since my son was born a photo book filled with photos from the previous year. I love them. This year he also did another filled with pictures of his artwork so I don't feel guilty about throwing some away. I had planned to do this one but never got round to it.

Nc123 · 25/12/2021 13:27

That coat is glorious OP.

DH got me a collection of vintage books that he thought I’d enjoy. I am very much enjoying them! And a light up book nook insert which is SO CUTE. I said this year I only really want vintage books, chocolate, higher end smellies that don’t come in rigid plastic and scented candles that smell festive. He got me all those things and I’m absolutely made up.

LadyFlumpalot · 25/12/2021 14:01

Oh I'm pleased there are other happy people out there! Everything sounds thoughtful and lovely.

My husband got me some shoes and a book I wanted but I told him not to go overboard as I would prefer to shop the sales.

What really made my gift this year was a two parter. My mum and dad came into a bit of money and wanted to know what to get me. I told them it was a lovely idea but my sister/their daughter is a single parent to 2 kids with autism. She has been asking me to go over her budget with her to see where she can save up for a new dish washer for Easter as she is tired to the sink with doing Umpteen meals for very fussy kids. So I told them to use my money to pool with hers and get hers a cheap dishwasher. They did and she cried her leg off when it was delivered just before Christmas. The other part is that her eldest confused in me that his mum had said (when they were writing their lists) that she would like a bottle of bright nail varnish. I worked with him on the QT and we got her a lovely little stocking put together with things they thought she would like. Nail varnish ( and related bits), a pizza cutter (?!), and he chose a sterling silver locket and decided which photos were to be put in it and then cut these tiny little photos and I helped him put them in. For a kid that two years ago couldn't cut paper and needed a special adapted pair of scissors this was huge. Again, she cried but so did he. So the vast majority of "my" Christmas money went on her as she doesn't have anybody else that really even bothers. And THAT is the best possible gift I could have ever got.

It's so lovely reading that other people are happy with their festive gifts too. It gives me the proper warm fuzzies and makes me want to hug you all. Or it could be the Prosecco 😂❤️

I got a lovely handbag that I asked him for. I'm super pleased. He was really happy with what I got him too.

aprilanne · 25/12/2021 15:35

Tickets to see My Chemical Romance in may!!!

Best present ever :D

New MacBook, my 8 year old one died a couple of months ago. I hate tech in theory but it has a big screen and I know it will be really useful. I can’t get on with iPads and it will be nice not to have to use my phone for everything.

That coat looks fabulous!!

ChoccySprinkles · 25/12/2021 16:06

Wowwww that coat is gorgeous. It was made for you.

My favourite gift didn’t cost a penny. A couple of years ago I went through a ruthless decluttering spree. I got rid of a childhood Christmas stuffed toy.

This year I have one surviving parent with dementia who is now in a care home.

I didn’t realise that my husband had actually saved said toy TWO YEARS AGO and presented the exact same toy to me today. I actually cried.

DriveInSaturday · 25/12/2021 16:16

That coat is absolutely gorgeous, OP. And it's also lovely to read a thread that isn't complaining about presents or people.

Maybepossibly22 · 25/12/2021 16:24

DH and I don’t usually “do” gifts, but this year he got me a beautiful wildflower resin necklace from a little independent Etsy store which I absolutely adore. Plus he said while cooking dinner today, “you know I love cooking the dinner because you do such an amazing job at doing everything else for Christmas” - made me feel all warm, fuzzy and appreciated which at 10 weeks pregnant with a toddler is the only gift I needed. He’s a good’un.

MrsKDB · 25/12/2021 16:28

That’s a beautiful coat! And the dishwasher story is lovely.

I got lovely things too - a diptyque candle, aurelia skincare, bath salts, cashmere wrist warmers from my kids and some salted caramels. Plus a promise of artwork for our sitting room when I find the right piece. It’s nice to feel appreciated.

My mum bought me a cooker for my new house. It's been sitting in the kitchen waiting for my kitchen guy to install it.

Lucky thing, as the old one gave up the ghost when I was cooking Christmas dinner 💀
