Normally my DH is a bit rubbish at presents, but this year he has struck gold. I mentioned a while back that I'd like a new coat, a proper wool one. Imagine my surprise when I opened this beauty this morning.

I'm so surprised, normally he does all his shopping on Amazon and I get something tangentially related to a hobby.

Please everyone share what presents you have enjoyed this year.

I got a MacBook Air. I’ve lusted after one for years and it was a total surprise.

TildaRae · 25/12/2021 16:35

I got my favourite perfume, a nice slouchy hoodie, some sports leggings and socks and pants and PJs, a bottle of gin, a woodwick candle and a couple of tops. Love them all but best of all dh is feeling a bit better. Hes got covid and I was a bit worried he was really ill despite 3 jabs. Kids have been sweet all day as well.

TheCatShatInTheHat · 25/12/2021 16:37

3 nights away in a 4* hotel.

TakeMeToYourLiar · 25/12/2021 16:44

DH bought me a gorgeous milk diamonds ring, it's made of resin with some breast milk and has DD's first curl incorporated

PugInTheHouse · 25/12/2021 16:44

DH went to the least effort he ever has this year, I had a few things on my amazon list which he got, he didn't even spend the budget we have (we have an amount each out of our joint money). My mum got confused so ended up getting me nothing either. I usually have stuff I want so DH can get it for me but this year I was stuck for ideas, I was a bit upset that he hadn't even tried to get anything as a suprise

DS1 is amazing though, he's 15 but earns very good money and had bought all of us presents himself, an All Saints hoodie for DH, Air Jordans for DS2 and some Ralph Lauren perfume for me, he also bought my parents gifts. So lovely he had gone to so much effort.

I've been thinking of doing this have you got a photo?
RhubarbFairy · 25/12/2021 16:51

I got a new watch from a designer that I love, this is my third and I alternate them daily.
4 sets of Boux Avenue pyjamas.
My favourite Austrian/German tea. I had planned to stock up in Austria as we were due to be there over Christmas, but we had to cancel and DH managed to source some from a company in Germany who ship to the UK.

All incredibly thoughtful. He's good at gifts (and I'm easy to buy for).

CheesusWept · 25/12/2021 16:56

I love that coat!

My boyfriend got me this lamp, which I love!
I also got some lovely perfume, and books, so very happy with my lot today.

It’s really bloody identifying so I won’t go into specifics but when I was a child I got for Christmas a limited edition games console. It was a beauty and it was the best Christmas ever. It has been eternally popular due to the franchise’s popularity as a collectors item. When I moved into a bigger house I asked if I could go into into the loft to get it. Unfortunately my mum then said that she gave it away to a grabby younger cousin who knew I had it (‘because I’m not a child any more’), and sold it on eBay for a fraction of what it was worth as I had all of the bits and original box Sad I still like gaming so I was looking forward to having it set up in my living room as it’s a really kitsch bit of kit and looks amazing.

My OH tracked one down for me in Japan and presented me with it on Christmas morning. I was delighted Grin

Hippywannabe · 25/12/2021 17:04

DH bought me a beautiful leather A4 portfolio. I am writing my first novel and hav struggled keeping it all online. This means I can do my notes properly and keep it all together.
He is autistic and struggles with gift giving-this year, it was perfect!

SpookyScarySkeletons · 25/12/2021 17:10

That is a seriously beautiful coat. There is a similar one by collectif that I am wanting!!

DH got me a birds of prey experience day where I get to fly a buzzard, a red kite and numerous owls. He bought the same thing for me about 4 years ago and it was honestly one of the best experiences of my life. I can't wait to do it again!

InDispairThisWeek · 25/12/2021 17:19

My dd who is autistic and has a lot of co-morbidities bought me a set of dice have have little ducks in, we play a lot of Yahtzee so they are absolutely perfect and very cute, she also bought me a book on Degas who is one of my favourite artists, I love that she put so much thought into the presents even though she’s been feeling ill recently.

dementedma · 25/12/2021 21:19

I got the perfume, books and backpack I asked for so cant complain.

Nobranothanks · 25/12/2021 21:38

6 years ago and very early into our relationship: "you know I hate horses, don't ever ask me to get or do anything horsey!"

Today: I asked for a new wheelbarrow, he's bought me the most magnificent wheelbarrow I've ever seen! Also a turnout rug for the diva one and a pair of wellies I was after 😉

BuckarooWithBruceGrobelaar · 25/12/2021 21:50

Pyjamas (always my favourite gift), a lovely pair of boots off my mum, a book on Russian history and a bottle of genuine Russian vodka all the way from Moscow. Very happy today Smile

Hen2018 · 25/12/2021 21:59

I asked my children for new slippers and a phone charger cable. They’ve never bought me anything before (lone parent so no one to drive them and encourage them).

They got them for me and some chocolate!

SpanielsAreMyLife · 25/12/2021 22:03

DH absolutely floored me this year. He got me a gorgeous grey cashmere dressing gown from The White Company and a pair of Dubarry boots.

I'd jokingly put them at the top of the list I give him, fully expecting to get the usual perfume and random "panic-at-4pm-on-Christmas-Eve" specials that I'm used to. No garden centre books about sexually abused Nun's for me this year Hmm Grin

@Boogaloony

My husband got me some shoes and a book I wanted but I told him not to go overboard as I would prefer to shop the sales.

What really made my gift this year was a two parter. My mum and dad came into a bit of money and wanted to know what to get me. I told them it was a lovely idea but my sister/their daughter is a single parent to 2 kids with autism. She has been asking me to go over her budget with her to see where she can save up for a new dish washer for Easter as she is tired to the sink with doing Umpteen meals for very fussy kids. So I told them to use my money to pool with hers and get hers a cheap dishwasher. They did and she cried her leg off when it was delivered just before Christmas. The other part is that her eldest confused in me that his mum had said (when they were writing their lists) that she would like a bottle of bright nail varnish. I worked with him on the QT and we got her a lovely little stocking put together with things they thought she would like. Nail varnish ( and related bits), a pizza cutter (?!), and he chose a sterling silver locket and decided which photos were to be put in it and then cut these tiny little photos and I helped him put them in. For a kid that two years ago couldn't cut paper and needed a special adapted pair of scissors this was huge. Again, she cried but so did he. So the vast majority of "my" Christmas money went on her as she doesn't have anybody else that really even bothers. And THAT is the best possible gift I could have ever got.

It's so lovely reading that other people are happy with their festive gifts too. It gives me the proper warm fuzzies and makes me want to hug you all. Or it could be the Prosecco 😂❤️

This is absolutely beautiful

As a single mother of an autistic child myself, I can appreciate how much that meant to your sister. It was a lovely thing for you to do
Evenstar · 25/12/2021 22:12

Everyone got me lovely thoughtful gifts, including books, music, a voucher for a meal at Hawksmoor, L’Occitane smellies and a beautiful Longchamp purse. Also snuggly luxury winter bits and a giant hot water bottle.

The best gift was to have family here after being in Tier 4 last year and having nobody here.

Things to hold tea leaves to make a single cup of loose leaf tea.

In the shape of a sloth which clings to the side of your cup

nottoday3000 · 25/12/2021 23:21

The Lego home alone house ! Which will be taking me till next Xmas to build !! It's awesome x

TerrifiedandWorried · 25/12/2021 23:29

My DS's best mate (14) has spent lots of time with us this year and we've supported him lots. He had bought all 5 of us chocolate etc with his own money and wrapped it all himself. Sounds like a small thing but it meant such a lot (and he said lovely things when he gave me the bag of presents). I love teenagers.
