yes of course. its seasonal. they are ordered in in advance and warehouses send them out

everyone would moan if there were shortages

our store sold out of all christmas items by the 15th

we have our seasonal stock ready to go in advance, its how retail works

Pegasussnail · 24/12/2021 21:53

Ffs Hmm
I was in B&M yesterday and couldn't buy a Christmas card.
They start these things too early

Creme eggs and similar are reasonable. I bought a few for DS's stocking. Hollow eggs are not as you can just buy a bar of chocolate instead.

LynxGiftsetAndSocks · 24/12/2021 21:56

why should they wait? the shelves are bare and the staff are there working.

MarshmallowFondant · 24/12/2021 21:58

Given that a large proportion of MN have been salivating over Christmas since the schools went back in August, it's hardly a surprise. School holidays are the first 2 weeks in April here, that's only three months away.

Nobody batts an eyelid at seeing Christmas tat in the shops at the start of October when it's still three months to Christmas.

When I am Queen of the World, selling anything Christmas related will be banned until 1st December. Anything Halloween related banned until 15th October. Valentine's until 1st Feb and so on. Keep the festivals in their season rather than one long consumer tat fest.

Elieza · 24/12/2021 22:00

That sounds sensible. I look forward to your reign, marshmallow 👸👑

I used to work in retail. The mini eggs turned up middle of December and we were told to put them out. I refused. ( my boss was fab ) I said there was no way I was putting them out before Xmas Eve. So we lost the box for a few weeks. It’s insane.

what did you put out instead?

we put our seasonal items out as soon as they come in...if the plans for shelves dictate that then thats whats in the warehouse....otherwise shelves would be empty

GTAlogic · 24/12/2021 23:43

Yay! I love Easter eggs! 🥚

nancybotwinbloom · 24/12/2021 23:49

@AFewScrewsLucy are you from Liverpool?

No word of a lie is a very scouse saying 😂

Paranoidandroidmarvin · 25/12/2021 13:04

@LynxGiftsetAndSocks they went on clip strips or on an end. We just left stuff or added other things.

CovidCorvid · 25/12/2021 13:14

It’s every year and has been for ages. I always wish everyone a happy Easter on FB before Xmas with a photo of the eggs in the shops! 😀. I’ve had a bag of mini eggs already, spotted them on the 23rd of Dec here.

Very common saying here I NI

MrsClatterbuck · 25/12/2021 14:57

We also have bags of Cadburys mini eggs in our local supermarket. It's usually the creme eggs that appear first at Christmas
