My oven has just given up the Ghost!

At approx 8.50 Christmas Eve and the heating element on my fan oven has gone.
8 for lunch tomorrow!!!!

If you use Facebook, post on local groups asking if there is any chance anyone has the element you may need.

They are not difficult to change, you just need to get hold of one. You never know!

No there is no-one neighbours next door and opposite are away, we are going to have to wait till New year for our lunch!

Have you got a bbq or slow cooker?

That happened to me a few years back. You can cook the veg and some of the meat on the hob. Luckily our microwave was a combi so got the turkey in there (mostly!). Failing that, just put something in the microwave from the freezer. Plenty of booze should take the pain away

After we put the turkey in, went for a walk expecting it to be nearly cooked when we got back.
Thankfully Ours heated normally on top bottom heat, just the fan oven mode didn't work.

We had exactly this problem. Assuming the grill still works, start early, grill on max leave it for 15 mins, switch the grill off fan on for 15 minutes repeat until the food is cooked. Finish the meat off in the microwave. Serve on plates fresh out of the dishwasher with piping hot gravy. Good luck !

Ask on FB if anyone has a halogen oven you can buy/borrow.

Just realised my microwave is a combi oven!
Going to ring DS and ask him to bring his microwave, I have some food warmers, so I'm just going to have to start really early, fortunately I cooked all the pigs in blankets etc earlier today.
The baked alaska will have to wait, and it will be microwaved Xmas Pud instead.

Has bbq if you have one with a lid, we’ve cooked ours this way several times by choice!
