Soft tissue damage/severe swelling

A relative was in a car crash over a week ago and didn’t break any bones, but was very battered.

The seatbelt bruising and swelling was extensive, and underneath where the seatbelt was - abdomen, chest, collar etc - is still swollen with very hard swelling felt beneath the skin/fat layer.

Any idea how long this will take to go? Bruises are fading, but this soft tissue/hard swelling is still very painful, cannot lie on their front for example, can’t wear a bra etc.

Thank you

Presumably they have been seen by medics?

Yes, seen in hospital and discharged - we are just surprised quite how extensive the swelling, bruising and lumps are, and wondered how long to expect recovery to be.

I think several weeks.

Haven't got a clue really, but no one on here will have, obvs.

Sorry, I should have been clearer - I wasn’t asking for medical advice per se, just lived experience.

She got good medical attention at the scene and at the hospital, but was given no follow up advice.

I’m not sure if it helps, but I tripped getting out of bed, hit my thigh off the edge and got a very large swelling and bruise. The bruise literally went all the way round my thigh. I didn’t seek medical attention and the swelling is nearly gone, but still a little there. It’s been four months. I’m sorry, I’m not sure that’s what you wish to hear.

Oh no! Thanks for replying though.
