Rookie error - stockings. Have you ever been caught?!

DC2 was feeling a bit freaked out by Santa's visit so is snuggled up asleep next to me in my bed. I need to get up and do stockings but the contents are stashed away in a carrier bag at the back of my wardrobe and in some boxes on top that I need a chair to reach.

I'm waiting for him to be in a deeper sleep and trying not to fall asleep myself.

How old ?

Husband to take them into own room to settle in a bit ?

Been there so many times Grin
It could be a long night for you and then you have to stealthily move like a ninja

Snowisfalling33 · 24/12/2021 20:45

It's ok, if caught... Santa was in a rush so dropped everything in the hall/garden and you said you'd put it away for him to help out!

I'm lucky, DD sleeps like the actual dead, this year she wants to turn into a mermaid for Christmas, so we're going to try to wake up before her and slide her legs into one of those knitted tail blankets 😂

Me and my brother tried to stay awake for years to catch out parents (we knew the presents must be in the loft), but we never managed it.

Good luck OP.

we have 2 of the same stockings. One is pre stuffed and we just sneak in and do a swap for the empty one.

That's genius.

We have the rule that stockings are hung downstairs on the fireplace. No sneaking required.

I was a bit hasty in my panic. Both DC asleep, stockings filled and gin poured. DC2 didn't want Santa coming upstairs so the stockings are to be hung in the downstairs hallway so actually less sneaking around than usual.

Good luck with the plan @Frlrlrubert!

@Glentheredbeakbattleostrich Omg.....! You are an actual GENIUS.....

My kids are coming out the other side of all this now...,. But I should've done that years ago!

Wish I had thought of this 20 years ago ! We stupidly had stockings with bells on too - it was so stressful over the years trying to be silent.
Starcaller · 24/12/2021 21:31

Yep, two stockings is the play! Works a treat.

Omg.

Why have I never thought of this

Minniem2020 · 24/12/2021 21:33

@Glentheredbeakbattleostrich What a genius idea!! I'm stealing that for next year

AllLopsided · 24/12/2021 21:40

Mine was always a swap when I was a kid! I'm a child of the 70s... my Christmas stocking was one of my dad's red football socks Xmas Grin I was an only child for ages so the one I hung at the end of the bed was always replaced with the other one ready stuffedXmas Wink

Glad it went ok OP!

InTheLabyrinth · 25/12/2021 07:43

Yep, duplicate stockings here too.

Yup. This is the only way to do it!
