Just taken an expensive joint out the fridge from Aldi for the main element of a family meal tonight. Its ment to be 1.3kg beef fillet out the packet it had quite a bit of sinue, now I've trimmed it a bit it looks more like fillet tail and rump.

When I've splurged on fillet before it's been a very even clean lean piece of meat.

It doesn't look like it to me op . I would be taking that back personally

Aubrey1981 · 24/12/2021 14:07

I’d be very disappointed tbh

TorySteller · 24/12/2021 14:08

Yes take it back or tweet them. That isn’t what I would expect! Hopefully it will still taste delicious!

Thank you. Didn't know if I was being unrealistic. I've messaged them but will pop out for something else

I would slow cook that. Looks like stewing steak to me.

Could be the end parts of the fillet after being trimmed. We buy a whole fillet each year and trim it ourselves and use the end bits for stroganoff. However if I bought what you bought I would expect the centre bit.

Expensive and Aldi do not go together Smile

Maybe not. But Aldi do very good steak.

AnyFucker · 24/12/2021 17:15

The last steak I bought from Aldi was poor. Never again.

Sugarplumfairy65 · 25/12/2021 01:32

Yes, its beef fillet, but its the tail end so not the best part. A decent fillet should have lots of fat marbling through it.

It doesn’t look like fillet to me. I don’t know what it is though. Stewing steak maybe.
