What would I like on Netflix?

I’m a bit of a Netflix newbie… Blush only a decade behind the times!

Fringe is brilliant! We're just coming to the end f rewatching it.

Altered Carbon is good - not the same vein as Fringe but really enjoyable.

CovidCorvid · 24/12/2021 10:52

Supernatural?

Pinkstegosaurus · 24/12/2021 10:53

The 100?

Fringe was fabulous!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 24/12/2021 10:56

Not on Netflix now (it used to be) but if you have Amazon Prime then The Expanse is fabulous.

Firefly used to be on Netflix but isn't at the moment which is a pain. They have the film Serenity, but it's a follow up to the series so I recommend not watching that until you've seen the series first.

I enjoyed Altered Carbon too.

If you're new to Netflix then I can recommend The Good Place, not strictly speaking Sci Fi but very funny and absorbing.

AnneLovesGilbert · 24/12/2021 10:57

Orphan black. But I’m not sure what it’s on these days.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 24/12/2021 10:59

Also Stranger Things is worth a try. I started to loose interest in the middle of series three, but the first series is fantastic.

RoastedParsnips · 24/12/2021 11:02

Snow piercer, travelers, 12 monkeys (not sure if it's on Netflix anymore but the TV show is amazing!)

I love Fringe too, wish they would make a remake.

MajesticallyAwkward · 24/12/2021 11:07

I love fringe! Not sure if these are all on Netflix but:
Supernatural
Warehouse 13
Eureka
Babylon 5 (not super related but it's so good everyone should watch it!)
Stranger things
House (it's not a sci fi but a good mystery solved every episode)
Castle

BertieBotts · 24/12/2021 11:12

I LOOOOVE Fringe.

Orphan Black is my second favourite ever series. Best to go in with absolutely no prior knowledge. Not the same premise as Fringe, but some similar themes/style.

BertieBotts · 24/12/2021 11:12

I want to watch Fringe all over again... I should try some of these.

DrDiva · 24/12/2021 12:37

Oh thank you for the recommendations! Some of these I have seen, but loads I haven’t so I feel a nice out of trying out coming on.
We’ve actually watched Fringe twice through, thought going for a third time was probably a bit much!!

And @MajesticallyAwkward you have reminded me that we never finished the final season of Castle.

Weren’t they going to do a Christmas special of Firefly? DH is a big fan.

Fringe is ace but so underrated. I don't know anyone else who has watched it.

Orphan Black is great.

The Witcher - just finished season 2 last night and that was amazing.

pastypirate · 24/12/2021 12:47

Just joining because I love fringe so much. I put tears for tears head over heels on the Alexa quite often to remind d me of fringe.

Person of interest is good a bit like quantum leap

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 24/12/2021 12:50

There is a comic Firefly Christmas special out this month, but I didn't hear anything about a screen Christmas special.

FredWinnie · 24/12/2021 14:58

Travellers on Netflix for sure

DrDiva · 24/12/2021 15:25

I’m making a wonderful list of possibilities here! Thank you.
Oh, I didn’t realise it was just a comic special for Firefly. Though I guess Nathan Fillion may not fit into his original costume any more… Xmas Shock

I second a town called eureka. Warehouse 13. I also loved lost in space.

cantgetmyheadroundit · 24/12/2021 17:47

Carnivale was good, think it was around the same time.

SpacePotato · 24/12/2021 18:07

Locke and key is good. Bit weird and supernatural.

Bloody loved Fringe. One of the few series I actually have the DVD box set of.

I have the box set too!

Watching Locke and Key with dd1 it's great!

DrMadelineMaxwell · 24/12/2021 18:17

Definitely Travelers. I've watched it again and again.

TeaAndStrumpets · 24/12/2021 18:17

Loved Fringe so much! Watching this thread for ideas. We watched Castle over lockdown, Nathan Fillion was quite big boned by the end of it Grin
We are enjoying The Mentalist on DVD.

Babylon 5 was brilliant. (RIP Mira Furlan)
