"The twitch"

I finished my food shopping yesterday. I feel the need to go out and search for some chutney for Boxing Day (gammon in cola safely in slow cooker this morning) - but I know if I go I will get "the twitch" and start throwing extra stuff I don't need into my basket - so I'm not going! (May give in later on!)

Any one else got "the twitch" yet?

Oh Christ yes. I filled an M&S online basket yesterday with random crap "just in case".

Ive been good this year and only bought what we’ll eat.
And what we’ve not got, we can’t have !

WhatsMyNameGonnaBeNow · 24/12/2021 13:10

I did this already this morning. Went for toilet roll, butter, juice and veggie sausages, came out with 3 large bags of stuff. Because of course we needed more Cava, chocolates, smoked salmon, cheese, fizzy drinks, crisps, antipasti and so on. Then had to play fridge Tetris for about half an hour…

Laiste · 24/12/2021 13:31

I nearly got it.

Sent DH went to do a quick co op run for bread and the forgotten JD (like you do) while i am at home doing puds and table and nearly texted him a list of crisps, shloer, more cream and nuts.

Yep popped to tesco this morning for milk and bread and came out with £55 😱 worth of random food that I could barely fit in the fridge around our actual Christmas dinner supplies

I have the twitch for cheese and crackers

Realistically I won't have the appetite or opportunity to eat it until Monday, when the shops will be open and I'll be ready to get out away from the kids on my own for 30 minutes. But it's Christmas.

We need butter. If I go I know I'll also buy crisps, chocolate, breadcakes, brioche, bacon, eggs, chocolate pastries etc etc. and probably forget about the butter...

soundsystem · 24/12/2021 13:47

Yep. Twitched and bought some more fizz (in case we come down with covid and Hogmanay plans are cancelled) and bread because... oh I don't know. At least it'll freeze if it doesn't get eaten! (We might have more loaves of bread than people in the house now...)

I'm so glad it's not just me. My brother text me today saying he was going to the supermarket and do I need anything. He wished he'd never asked!

SpottyStripyDuvet · 24/12/2021 19:19

Picked up pre-ordered food from M&S earlier. Twitched and ended up with an extra £40 worth of stuff like pate, peanuts, gala pie etc.

Couldn't find cranberry sauce so sent DH to the co-op later and he has come back with more pringles and 2 boxes of after eights so he's no better than I am.

I suppressed my twitch earlier and now I'm worrying that we don't have enough red wine...
