I’m so done with Xmas and it’s not even here yet

It’s dark, it’s been crap weather, we’re all self isolating and that aside Xmas gets rammed down your throat starting after Halloween. It’s a consumerist pile of crap that I do everything to avoid but cannot do anything that makes it bearable. COVID has compounded that and I’m utterly, utterly fed up.

Sorry you’re fed up. Do you have covid or just isolating as a contact? I am fed up too but for opposite reason, wish they would all go away and I could isolate in peace! ILs arriving today and at the moment I don’t even know how I’m going to fake it.

So far negative but DD had a positive LFt and an inconclusive PCR which we’re waiting result for. She was/is probably positive. We are all negative. But covid aside, I have grown to loathe Xmas. It takes up too much of the calendar. In my childhood the build up would be about 2 weeks before the day. I hate the perfect Xmas that is forcefed down our throats. For me I like to bugger off for two weeks. I hate being caged and this is hellish. I fully expect loads of folk to come on and tell me to get over myself and that loads of folk have it worse. I know that and have been supportive of those who are in RL but I need time to recharge that is not telly, screens, constant food prep. I’ve always wandered at will.

Yes it doesn’t really matter if others have it worse, this is how you are feeling and it’s valid. I hope there are some ways for you to recharge in amongst your restricted circumstances.

Me too. I don't want to perform Christmas. Would be happy to never have that obligation again. Once a year is way too often for it and it's depressing that we all behave like lemmings because we feel we have to.
It's fun for kids.

Xmas is shite. Too much pressure, too much money, too many viruses - including covid - going around. Too much mess, work and too many people.
