Christmas gifts from work

As I tuck into my solitary quality street from the box that my team of 15 have to share which was a gift from my employer, I'm wondering, does anyone get christmas gifts/bonus's from work anymore??

OP posts:

I get two gifts. One is usually a bottle of something from one of the directors and his family. The other is a box of chocs or biscuits from three other directors together. The fourth director doesn't get us anything Confused

No bonus this year but occasionally have had a bonus like £100

Dd gets a bonus every year. Amount depending on company profits. Last year I think she got £200

Girlintheframe · 24/12/2021 08:20

We get to chose either a bottle of wine, box of beer or chocolates.

DS got a £350 bonus which he is VERY happy with.

purpledagger · 24/12/2021 08:50

Never have gotten gifts from employer.

OH used to receive a homemade hamper from his employer, they would full a box with goodies like biscuits, cheeses, crisps, bottle of spirits, chocolates etc. they used to go to ASDA to get the stuff, as it was the closest supermarket to work. The last year he was there, they bought all the stuff from Lidl 😂 (we shop in Lidl, so we aren't snobs, but they could have done better).

I got a hamper from my work and a £500 bonus which I am over the moon about, in previous years it's been a Christmas dinner laid on by the company and maybe £60/70 bonus which I always have been happy with - dp works for civil service and doesn't even get so much as a half day for Christmas Eve.

GreatBigBeautifulTommorow · 24/12/2021 08:52

NHS Christmas bonus 2021- you’re all being redeployed due to Covid, Merry Christmas though. Xmas Sad

mdh2020 · 24/12/2021 08:52

I worked in a university and we had to pay for our own Christmas lunch. I don’t think I even got a card from my line manager.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 24/12/2021 08:56

Public sector, no.

MagentaRocks · 24/12/2021 08:58

Public sector so no, but I do gift bags for my staff with home made stuff in and small gifts. Goes down really well.

ImInStealthMode · 24/12/2021 08:58

We got an all expenses paid lunch out and some v posh chocolates (each, not to share!)

Smorgasborb · 24/12/2021 08:59

Hamper and £20k bonus.

Groovee · 24/12/2021 09:00

My head teacher gave us all a personalised gift. Ah that she bought from her own money.

Nowt from the council.

Private nursery we all got either our Christmas party paid for or we got gifted money.

llanfairfechan24 · 24/12/2021 09:06

No, don't mind. Just letting me have the time off I want is the main thing (and indeed not forcing me to have any I don't want).

Unihorn · 24/12/2021 09:07

I got a bottle of wine from my manager and I'm in the public sector, he just bought it himself!

LadyCampanulaTottington · 24/12/2021 09:08

I am my boss so I give myself a veeerrrryyy generous bonus Grin and I can write it off. Win win.

RichardMarxisinnocent · 24/12/2021 09:09

NHS here so usually get nothing other than food paid for personally by senior management at the department's Xmas do and a couple of tubs of chocolates, again from personal pockets of higher managers. So I was stunned and pleased this year to get a £30 voucher from the hospital (I assume from charity funds), plus a smaller voucher paid for personally by department's senior management. And also £50 from my direct senior manager to buy treats for those in the office. I'm feeling really appreciated by my employer and managers at the moment.

PersonaNonGarter · 24/12/2021 09:11

Bottle of very nice wine (personal gift from line manager); £40 Amazon voucher for everyone in the department; and discretionary day off on Christmas Eve.

It’s not £££ but it is nice to get these things and I do appreciate them. In fact, I think small stuff like this adds up to being worth a lot in terms of good cheer.

romdowa · 24/12/2021 09:14

Mu brother gets an envelop with cash in it every year. My father used to get a bonus in his wage and a hamper years ago. It's a pity more employers don't treat their staff , especially in those sectors where Christmas is hectic.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 24/12/2021 09:14

NHS so no official work gift which is fine. Previous bosses have brought in goodies to share (DH is public sector and gets a few trays of Krispy Kreme for his team), but this one doesn't. It's not that I'm desperate for a danish pastry but I think the gesture is important.

SantasGotABigOne · 24/12/2021 09:18

DH usually gets a hamper (but didn't this year) and I got chocolates (retail) our bonus comes in just after Christmas.

My friend works in a uni and got £200 in vouchers to use in the onsite cafés, or Starbucks or Subway (franchises on site)

Did you buy your boss something?
Lovelydovey · 24/12/2021 09:26

We get a contribution to a Christmas party and free Christmas lunch in the canteen. This year we also got 3 days off. Bonuses happen later in the year - performance linked.

icedcoffees · 24/12/2021 09:26

As an employee I got anything from a cheap £1 selection box to a cash bonus of up to £500 or so.

I'm self employed now and this year my clients got me a whole range of things - Baileys, Prosecco, lots of boxes of chocolates, tree decorations and a handmade scarf amongst others Smile

Lovelydovey · 24/12/2021 09:27

I made a Christmas cake and brought it in for the team to share - though lockdown means that most of it is still uneaten.
