Help! Gallstones

Hey, looking for some advice on this and peoples experiences with gallstones or similar symptoms?

For 2 years, I’ve had 4 attacks in my right shoulder, excruciating pain never felt anything like it. I thought it was a shoulder injury so thought nothing of it, until a month ago. I had an attack, I could feel it coming on before I went to sleep, woke up with the worst pain it had ever felt, I ended up completely fainting because of it. Went to A&E, the doctor said the murphys sign was positive, and no sign of shoulder injury so suspected gallstones. Referred me back to my GP I have a scan booked for a month. Blood tests come back fine…

The attack stopped after a couple days, but I now seem to have had a milder version of the pain for a week now, compared to an attack it’s minor but still uncomfortable. The pain is right under my shoulder blade and surrounding area, it makes my arm feel a bit numb and weak.

My gallbladder is no longer inflamed, no abdominal pain or anything just shoulder pain. I’m really confused now and wondering if it is something like gallstones or something simple like a trapped nerve.. A month is a long time to wait, so want to get other peoples experience as Google hasn’t helped much.

Please help! Xx

It is not uncommon to have long gaps between flair ups with milder symptoms in between. Have you been advised to have a low fat diet and avoid alcohol? It is hard waiting for a scan but you will know for sure if it's gallstones. I assume you had bloods taken? These would indicate increase in inflammatory markers, it sounds like pretty classic symptoms based on the location and description.

I hope you get some answers before another flair up.

I had gallstones and the pain was terrible - never had any numbness/weakness in my arm though.

The only thing that I found helped a bit was avoiding high fat foods. Not so fun at Christmastime.

I hope you're feeling better soonThanks

@Rupertpenrysmistress @poblwc

Thanks guys :) Because I didn’t even consider gallstones before my last one, tbh I haven’t been monitoring what causes it! But I am on it now as defo don’t want another one!

Yeah liver blood tests come back normal, just low vitamin D lol! I hope I do too, thanks so much xxx
