Is it me or is bread not as soft/fresh as usual?

Normal loaves like Kingsmill/warbutons always seem to be a bit passed it.

Just opened another loaf and it's only fit for toast. Not sarnies.

Yep totally agree, we got a Warburtons loaf delivered with the food shop yesterday and it's like a brick.
I'm really fussy with bread being soft and I always find the same bread from our corner shop is lovely and fresh so I'm guessing the supermarkets just keep it in the back for a while.

Absolutely! Stale feeling yet straight off the delivery van sometimes.

Usually the first slice after the heel is okay, but lately I've been saving that for toast even on loaves with several days date left.
