Do I need antibiotics? (bastard cat)

I have an adopted stray (he was a poor skeletal thing for years til I finally managed to capture him, get him chip checked, patched up etc)
Now a fat glossy neutered boy. Very affectionate..but he bites. He bites me at least once a week without warning, just because he CAN.

Generally I give it a wash, antiseptic cream and all good, but yesterday he bit me quite hard, drew blood and though I cleaned it, tonight it is a bit tender, hotter than it should be and I'm wondering if I do actually need antibiotics. My arm aches but I might be imagining that!
Not a great pic.. it's angrier in real life..but do I need to try and get hold of the GP tomorrow?! You can probably see the two fang holes!!!

Imdreaming - although they can be really serious as demonstrated by a lot of these posts, in my limited experience, cat bites don't often pierce the skin.. the cat has to be proper cross to bite that hard. I think cats tend to lash out only when in pain or scared - or when they're ex-feral types like OPs who probably had to survive on their wits for years.

Kittens just don't have that type of jaw power so you're probably safe and provided they never know anything but love, they're unlikely to bite - although scratches come with the territory Grin

Yes, you definitely need antibiotics! I hope you managed to get in touch with your GP.
I knew someone who was bitten by a stray and very nearly lost his arm.

Here you go...

I've had cats all my life and never had one that bites like he does.. he draws blood every time. But he's had a hard life (til now!) and reacts like he expects to be hurt sometimes when I go to stroke him. My other cats never savaged me!
I think he'll always be tricky to live with, but at least now he's warm, fed, safe and lording it over us!
