The draining hole may be blocked with gunk. Try cleaning it out and check round the back of the fridge. Some of them have a drip tray, it might need emptying.

Do you mean the fridge is icing up and freezing the food stored inside when it is operating as normal?

If so, then it simply needs turned down a bit once you've cleaned it. Ambient temperatures are lower in winter months, so a '3' that keeps your food nice and chilled in summer often freezes it solid in winter because the fridge is over cooling the already cooler air.

If you mean it's freezing up while you are cleaning it, that's because presumably you are cleaning it while it's still switched on, with the door open, and the compressor will be going nuts desperately trying to cool the inside of the fridge that's being flooded with warm air.

I keep our fridge very cold for sourdough. You can turn it up a little but it won't fully adjust until tomorrow.

I put things at the back that I don't mind being a bit frozen 😂. 5 is coldest 1 is warmest. You could put a small tub of water in the fridge and keep in the same shelf. By taking the water temperature, it gives a good idea of your fridge temperature. Your can buy fridge thermometers but they tend to be shit. If you have more food shopping to go in, it will raise the temperature so just think of how much food is still to go in and how frequently the fridge will be opened.

Sorry i know a lot about fridge temperatures 🤭

I'd certainly try turn it down, it doesn't need to be as high in the winter.

This happens in ours when someone leaves the freezer door slightly open (only relevant if it’s a fridge-freezer).
