Doing some last minute Christmas shopping and considering a pasta delivery subscription plan for OH. Looking at Nonna Tonda and Pasta Evangelists. Has anyone tried these and have any feedback to help me decide which to go for?

I've tried Pasta Evangelists on an introductory offer. It was bloody delicious!

I cant afford to subscribe, but if I had the money I definitely would and I'd love a su description as a gift.

*subscription

I've tried Pasta Evangelists and it was all delicious. The portions are very generous too. One portion of spaghetti feeds me, DH and pasta loving 3 year old. The tortellini type dishes for one are enough for DH and I to share.

Loved pasta evangelists but expensive!

tectonicplates · 23/12/2021 16:28

Pasta Evangelists looks amazing! But I just can't justify spending that kind of money I pasta when it's so cheap to buy in normal packets. Would totally give it a try if I earned a lot more money.

FazedNotPhased · 23/12/2021 16:31

Weird, we ordered the mushroom ravioli from Ocado and felt completely ripped off! It was so tasteless.

Maybe the other ones are better but at those prices I don't really want to risk it to find out.

Plenty of Pasta Evangelist love! Glad I asked. Thanks for advice on portion sizes @Fispi -there are 4 of us, 2 adults, 2 under 12's so maybe a subscription for 3 portions rather than 4 would work? Bulk the meals out with sides/desert. It is expensive but OH has been a huge support this year and also I'm feeling a bit guilty as spied my pile of pressies from him and kids and I haven't got him near as much (he totally wouldn't be bothered by that but he deserves a treat or two).

@R00tat00tt00t 3 portions for 4 is what we have done between DH, mum, me and greedy 3 year old. It's plenty with some left over for us so hope it is for you two if you try. It is expensive but its really good quality and felt like a proper treat when we couldn't go out. The seafood and tomato based dishes have been my favourites. You can pause the subscription then just unpause it when you have a special occasion. We also tried Ding Dong Dim Sum recently for a birthday night in and it was amazing.

*you too....not you two

They sell Pasta Evangelists in my local M&S. Do you need to buy a subscription? Could you try buying a hamper of products instead?

R00tat00tt00t · 23/12/2021 17:36

Thanks @roses2 - that's interesting, I'll have to take a look. I've noticed a few other supermarket/online specialist collaborations recently - spotted Bloom & Wild bouquets in Sainsbury's today.
@Fispi I've taken a peek at the Ding Dong Dim Sun and now swithering over whether to go for that instead of pasta. It looks so tasty and probably feels like more of a treat than pasta?

Ding Dong Dim Sum is something I couldn't make anything like at home, but I don't make my own fresh pasta either! Either way you're in for a treat with minimal clear up.

doadeer · 23/12/2021 20:10

Wow I'm so surprised there's comments the pasta evangelist portions are big, we find them tiny but delicious and I'm not a big over eater. The tortallini styles are about 5 pieces of pasta.

AwkwardPaws27 · 23/12/2021 20:16

Not really suitable as a gift, but if you are looking for good pasta and pasta evangelists is out of price range, this range from Aldi is bloody lovely - groceries.aldi.co.uk/en-GB/p-specially-selected-wild-porcini-mushroom-truffle-mezzelune-250g/4088600321226
DH & I often share one for lunch.

We used to get Nonna Tonda. Delicious and big portions but they only delivered in our area on a certain day each week and twice messed up our deliveries and still charged me so I cancelled. You choose meat or veggie and get whatever is on the menu that week. Pasta Evangelists had a much bigger menu of options so I would go with that.
