Does child benefit go down once a child is in college?

DD started in September, filled out the forms and they said on phone CB would continue for her 2 year course.

However getting a breakdown of CB, it significantly drops in April. Should that be right?

You need to tell them again for year 2.

But why would it drop in April if the school finishes in July?

April is the new tax year, so perhaps the child benefit is reduced because you’ll hit a benefit cap?

It also depends on age. Even if they are in college FT, once they turn 20 the child benefit stops.

There are other things too like if the education ends in April and they start on an apprenticeship, child benefit stops.
