Christmas fails (lighthearted)

Ive spoken to my mother today who collected her Christmas meat order from the butchers as they are hosting for 9 people.

She realised her mistake when the butcher handed her a joint of beef the size of a cow.

She hadnt read the order form properly and had ordered everything in kg and not lb.

So we have
8kg turkey
4kg beef joint
4kg ham joint
4kg chipolatas and the same of streaky bacon

The butcher commented that she must have a lot of guests. My mum being my mum paid for it all rather than admitting her mistake.

We saw a similiar incident when i was in my teens when they ordered 5kg of mussels instead of lb from a fish market in France. We ate mussells for 3 days before my parents admitted defeat.

Xmas Grin sounds amazing!! Only question is; will your DMum have room in the oven (rather than room at the inn)?

I shopped for all the ingredients to make two Christmas puddings (one for us, one for my DMum and DDad). Doubled up the recipe I always use. Thought it was a bit expensive, with all the fruit.

Got home. Went to make said Christmas puddings. Remembered that my usual recipe makes enough mix for 2 puddings....

So, I now have 4 puddings in the pantry.

The worst bit?? I had 4 pudding bowls, because I've made exactly the same mistake before!

That's amazing. Grin I'm sure the neighbours would happily accept some food gifts! Hope there is room in the oven.

My Dad once ordered five of those little sticky toys that you throw at the wall and then they work their way down. As stocking fillers. Except he ordered five boxes of them and each box had 50 in it.

I have just seen a thread about stocking fillers. Another thing to add to the last minute shopping list.
