Saw Hotel Chocolat do one, video looks cool. But in real life, is it any good?

And is it just a machine to give you frothy hot chocolate?

I love ours. We use it multiple times a day.

It gets a lot of use in our house! We just use regular chocolate, not the special sachets.

My friend has one and it’s amazing but I personally wouldn’t pay the money for it. I guess it depends how much you like hot chocolate.

DD was given one for her bday. The hot chocolate is very nice, but not particularly frothy like cappuccino milk etc. it’s more just slightly creamy. The hotel chocolat flakes come in lots of flavours so we’re still working through them. Have tried using alternatives but they weren’t as nice. It does end up a lot more expensive than her previous favourite hot choc which was made with hot water and powdered chocolate (Clipper one) and probably more of a treat thing than an everyday drink when it’s made with all milk.

It’s pretty meh- The hot chocolate is tepid and it’s a bit of a Gimmick imo... we got one a couple of years ago and used it a few times Xmas day/ Boxing Day but since then it has languished in a cupboard and I can’t be arsed to buy new sachets for it.

We have the dualit milk frother which is identical but around half the price (they make the Hotel Chocolate one too). We love it!

The best thing about it is when you’re doing hot choc for the kids, i just put the Cadbury powder in with the milk and press a button and it does it all for you. None of this microwave/ pan/ blend the chocolate first with a bit of cold milk nonsense. I keep the sachets for me only!!! I was bought one and I love it.

It also makes the drink hotter than a normal milk frother. We have a milk frother as well for our coffees, and the milk gets a lot hotter in the belvetiser.

I bought one for my adult son, who has ASD. He's really hard to buy for as never wants anything. He says it's the best hot chocolate he's ever had. The first cup is cooler than the subsequent ones, which is perfect for my son as he doesn't like it very hot.

Yes, it’s very good. Makes a lovely creamy texture.

PiLs got me and dh one for Christmas a couple years back, it needs running twice to get to the temperature dh and I like. Makes the milk nice and creamy. We use it a few times a week.
However dhs nescafe coffee machine that we got offloaded to us by PiLs a few weeks back makes the milk really hot and frothy, so I use that for me. Single run on the velvatiser is the perfect temp for ds, so I can do me and him and hot choc at the same time now.

I'd recommend one.

It's just another gadget I think, much like those you see hawked out on tv shopping channels..

Got ours 2 years ago, mainly for the DCs. Far better hot chocolate than the normal stuff and seem to have a lot of flavours so plenty of options

We got one last year & we love it. It's used very regularly & makes delicious hot chocolate. We tried different chocolates in it but now we stick to the hotel chocolat sachets as we like them the best

I really like it, very smooth and velvety hot chocolate.

I pour my finished hot chocolate in to a thermal cup and then it stays hot enough.

I was worried it would be crap but it really does make awesome hot chocolate.

I was a tester for MN. We like it but it has its "flaws". If I was buying one I'd go for the Dualit version.

Bought it during Black Friday deals, so got some money off and a voucher for the HC website so managed to also get a couple of big bags of hot choc powder for free too

I like mine, and it's a bit of a treat for DS - we only use it every couple of weeks. I got it for £65 with a discount.

I got one today for my birthday. So far I love it!! Although we've only tried two flavours so my review is limited.

Adult DD and son in law love theirs
