Booster affecting periods?

Choice4567 · 22/12/2021 12:29

So I've now had my third vaccine/booster. Had it at the beginning of November. The first vaccine did muck my period up and it would be 3/4 days late

Period was due Monday the 14th. I'm inclined to think that the 3rd vaccine has really mucked it up, but DH is becoming more worried I'm pregnant!

Had the 3rd vaccine mucked up anyone else's period for this long?

The first vaccine resulted in period changes for a few months for me. I had the booster last week, and lo and behold, my period is now late and I feel shit.

Choice4567 · 22/12/2021 12:36

Ooo ok thank you. Not good that you feel shit. How late are you? Just starting to feel like a week and a half is very late!

First one sent my period missing in action for a month. Then it came back for 14 days, then off for three, then back for 9 days of flooding.

Second one didn't cause any problems.
Had booster last night and I'm bracing myself....

Wellgothenidontcare · 22/12/2021 13:33

Can’t you just do a pregnancy test and find out?

Snow1n · 22/12/2021 13:35

The 2nd and 3rd brought changes for me but they're different for everyone so Id be doing a test if at all possible

BearSoFair · 22/12/2021 13:45

I had a 63 day cycle after the first dose, second was fine time wise but very light, booster yesterday so waiting to see what I get this time around!

Choice4567 · 22/12/2021 13:55

@Wellgothenidontcare yes I know. I will buy a test later. I just really don’t want to be pregnant so was vaguely hoping for a chorus of agreement that the 3rd booster has made everyone 2 weeks late and I shouldn’t even worry

I had AZ with no issues and then a Pfizer booster. Period was 3 weeks late after the booster and surprisingly light which is unusual for me. There's always the possibility that it's a coincidence with me though as I'm 47 so could be peri menopause.

yeahitlookslike · 22/12/2021 13:59

Pretty sure I read on here back in the TTC days that when you have an infection, your body can skip ovulation which causes a later period than usual. So possibly something that simulates infection can do the same?

Choice4567 · 22/12/2021 14:02

Oo @yeahitlookslike that does sound like a reasonable explanation. I’ll buy a test this evening just to double check but I can remain hopeful that the chances are very slim

The vaccines totally messed up my periods ever since the first one in May. Doesn't this mean the vaccine is messing up our hormones? Why should we put up with this and still be told theyre 'safe'?

Because what you are saying is bollocks. Your hormones change in response to outside stimuli all the time, this time is just visible because you see the effect on your period.
PatriotCanes · 22/12/2021 14:33

If you look at Caroline Criado Perez's website and newsletters she's had a lot of questions about this. I know I had a random period from hell after my second AZ jab but was a different point in my cycle when I had my first.

Fallagain · 22/12/2021 14:34

Yep, I’ve realised today that mine is late. I’ve ordered some pregnancy tests although as DH has had the snip it’s very unlikely.

KitBumbleB · 22/12/2021 14:50

Yes mine were late and heavier, had my booster and my period was just coming to an end, then suddenly bright red and heavy again

Choice4567 · 22/12/2021 18:24

Test says negative, phew. Now I guess I have to wait it out until the period starts!

@Sparkai
''Because what you are saying is bollocks. Your hormones change in response to outside stimuli all the time, this time is just visible because you see the effect on your period.''

What is 'utter bollocks'? The vaccination appears to have affected womens periods quite drastically - this is widely reported by women all over mumsnet. Of course hormones fluctuate - that is the very essence of how hormones work. But to be so affected by an 'outside stimuli' as to be 2/3 weeks late then have 20 days bleeding then 1 week break, over and over - this is severely abnormal. I have had many 'outside stimuli' over the last 20 years and nothing, nothing, like this has ever happened to me before the vaccionations. No medicine or vaccine has ever done this to me - and I have had many!

Bolshybun · 22/12/2021 19:08

I don’t have periods on my mini pill and haven’t for years. After both Astra Zeneca and now Pfizer booster I have bled.

The bollocks I was referring to us your assertion that the vaccine isn't safe because it potentially has a secondary effect on some people's hormones.

moresugarpls · 23/12/2021 07:54

Yes i got my period 2 days after my first vaccine. I’m breastfeeding so wasn’t expecting it. That was the only period I had since giving birth until 3 months laters when I had my second dose.

moresugarpls · 23/12/2021 07:56

Sorry to clarify I’ve only had 2 doses. and not the third booster

Theseptemberissues · 23/12/2021 07:56

AZ the first time with no issues. Had Pfizer booster and period was 3 days late ( mine are always 26 days without fail) and has been a mix of spotting and flooding for over a week. great!

GoodnightGrandma · 23/12/2021 07:58

My DD hasn’t had a period since her jab, and no she’s not pregnant.

Welliesandpyjamas · 23/12/2021 08:00

Has anyone had madly painful/tender boobs since being vaccinated?
