Nightshift and can't sleep

I got up stupidly early yesterday at 0600 and fully intended to sleep before a nightshift last night , which I failed to do. I've been to work, had my booster and now failing to fall asleep and getting really annoyed with myself.
Any tried and tested tips for sleep? 29hrs awake and need to be back at work raring to go at 2000

Sympathies as I've been there myself.

Are you warm/cool enough? I've found if I'm too cold, I won't sleep. Likewise, if I'm too hot, no sleep.

Is the room dark enough? Silent or noisy enough?

Do you have any Night Nurse or drowsy causing antihistamines? A small dose of those could be just enough to tip you over.

Sweet dreams when you do nod off.

This sometimes happens to me when I’m on nights. I really regret it when it’s 4am and I’m dying for bed! I sometimes take half a nytol if it’s really bad. Also, white noise to drown out all the neighbours and usual nonsense during the day.

Also I cut down on caffeine overnight. Really sucks but it was making me jittery anyway. Lots of water instead.

The 4am struggle was real this morning, I yawned so much I thought I was going to dislocate my jaw and felt sick. Can't wait for a repeat tomorrow morning. Thankfully I only have tonight to get through. It doesn't help that my work place is like a furnace and just makes you feel sleep even when fully rested,
