Hi everyone

Has anyone here had to conduct any DBS check for employment purposes?

The form has a sentence saying that government agencies might be contacted to confirm periods of unemployment.

Is DWP legally allowed to disclose such details to DBS agencies or your employer?

Anyone with expensive please enlighten me.

Thanks in advance

Yes they are allowed. By filling in the DBS form and ticking the relevant boxes you are giving permission.

Your employer does not get directly told anything though. The DBS certificate, when issued is sent to you and you then show it and the info it contains to your employer.

I always thought it was HMRC they contacted to check periods of umeployment with?

But anyway yes they can if you give them permission. If you din't give permission they probably won't proceed with the employment so its your choice. Did you lie?
