Will my work pass survive the wash?

I've accidentally put my work pass in the washing machine, it's got 50 minutes of the cycle left and I need to be in work for 9 so I'll be ok but will it still work? It's got a chip thingy that opens doors. Fucking hell!

Can't you pause the machine to take it out now?

Papertrail392 · 22/12/2021 08:01

I dont know, I'll have a look.

Nope, can't pause it. I'm not usually quite so incompetent, just got a lot of my plate at the moment. What a stupid thing to do!

one of those oyster card type of things?
if yes it will be fine (dc frequently forget their passes in their pockets)

Papertrail392 · 22/12/2021 08:04

I dont know what it is, you just hold it next to the door and it opens it.

it will be fine.
possibly a bit faded/scratched

My car keys survived a wash. I did switch them with DH's just in case, but he never complained they didn't work Grin
I'd imagine it will still work as it doesn't have a battery.

I have the same type of pass , it unlocks electromagnetic locks, it has been washed a few times over the years and still works fine

Iamnotamermaid · 22/12/2021 08:16

Mine did - and so did my credit card.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 22/12/2021 08:18

I've washed car keys, debit cards, army id cards... all fine.

Wedding certificate... didn't survive Blush

Yeah it'll be fine. Mine gets washed a lot and it's always been absolutely fine. As have my bank cards when I've washed them by mistake

This has made me laugh so much as it’s totally the sort of thing I would do 😂
swapsicles · 22/12/2021 09:00

Good luck, it should be fine as all plastic.
I've washed a fair few things accidently, usually work badges, although I did wash a fitbit once, my step count was great that day Grin
