Last candidate for interview feedback - internal job

As title says, got my invite today to feedback my interview for an internal promotion and looking at my managers calendar, I'm the last candidate to receive feedback.

I've now convinced myself I haven't got the role as I'm last to hear feedback 😢

I guess I'm looking for confirmation from Mumsnet that I'm right or I am in fact wrong. If anyone with psychic powers could inform me of the feedback that would be 👍🏻

When are you getting the feedback?

It could mean something, it could mean nothing (that’s incredibly not psychic of me!

@gggrrrargh I'm getting feedback after lunch, the other candidates just before. IME employers tell successful candidates first incase they don't accept and then move onto the next best candidate.

At least I'll find out in time to amend my online shop to include extra wine and chocolate if I'm unsuccessful 😂

Well in my organisation I wouldn't give feedback to a successful candidate, sorry OP. But I don't know what is normal in yours!

The general rule for hiring externally is that you tell the successful candidate first, and only when they have accepted the role do you tell the others they're not successful (in case they don't want the job then you can offer it to your 2nd choice)

However, I've never hired internally and I would think the last thing you want is to tell the successful person then have them grinning their head off in the office or telling everyone else before you get a chance to tell them directly so I can see why you would give the good news last in that scenario, as long as you were certain they would accept the job.

Good luck!

Was it good news or not so good news? I was thinking about you earlier!

I got the job! Very happy and excited. Was utterly convinced it would be bad news! Thank you for thinking of me 😊

Always tell those who have failed first in case the successful one blabs.😆🤦‍♂️

That’s great news well done! An early Christmas present.

In your case then being internal they might have been feeling confident you’d be accepting it so didn’t worry so much about the order ☺️

That’s amazing news! Well done x
