Iceland Veg for 1p

For anyone who's struggling this Christmas, I've just seen an article about Iceland selling veg for 1p.

To redeem the offer, all shoppers will need to do go on the Iceland app, and add the code 'ICE1VEG' at checkout.

That's fantastic. That will really help many families this Christmas.

Will it? The veg are the cheapest part of Christmas - carrots, broccoli and parsnips are usually only about 20p from all supermarkets anyway.

@DockOTheBay it's nice that you've never been/seen the mother counting the last of the pennies out of her purse and realising she's 50p short

In the Sainsbury store I was in today was selling bags of carrots, parsnips, red cabbage etc for 19p.

Thanks @girlmom21

I regularly get Iceland delivered they are fab

oftenbaffled · 22/12/2021 17:25

* It's only valid on bags of veg that would usually be £1 and under, and shoppers have to buy three at a time to claim the discount.*

What’s the chances that’s it all but impossible to load your online basket with 3 due to low stock!

kierenthecommunity · 22/12/2021 18:05

But if it’s an online order, is there not a charge for delivery? So not that helpful to people who are truly brassic

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 22/12/2021 18:15

Iceland usually do free delivery for orders over £40 - and I agree they are brilliant with some of their offers. Plus I've never not been able to get a next day delivery slot with them. They are genuinely really good with customer service too & let you know ahead of delivery if they've had to make substitutions/can't deliver something. You get your refund before they even arrive. Yep, veg are generally pretty cheap, but small things like this DO make a difference when you are watching every penny & can't get to supermarkets.

£40 is a lot to spend on a shop for me.

But it's good and will make a difference to a lot of families

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 22/12/2021 19:14

@Porfre £40 is quite a lot for us too, but they do have really good deals on cupboard & freezer type foods that I know we will eventually use, so I do a big shop with them once a month to stock up on the basics. Plus their veg is pretty cheap & customer service is so much better than Tesco, Sainsburys etc. I can't get to a supermarket to do a big shop, so having all the heavy stuff delivered makes it so much easier!

For 1p a bag if anyone is online ordering order some extra bags and share with food banks, parishes that support food banks that are struggling, neighbours that may be in need etc?
