Defrosting a turkey in the garage

I’ve got a large turkey in the freezer. It’s in a clear plastic bag that’s in a box. Do you think it’s safe to defrost outside in the garage? It’s quite cool in there so not worried about temperature but I’m concerned that mice might find it and chew through the box. Would that even happen?

That could happen! Put it in a plastic crate with lid tightly fastened if you want to use the garage

Yes it would unless you can rat proof it don’t do it

Be careful about the temperature, if it’s really cold it might not defrost

I keep misreading this title as ‘Devastating the turkey in the garage’.

I'd get it raised off the floor in something rat proof, other than that, keep an eye on thd temperature and let it do its thing!

I always put mine in a cat basket in the garage 😂. Animal proof then

Thanks for replies - I’ll go and tip out a big toy box/tub and use that. I’ll get it out Thursday am and if it’s still pretty frozen Friday I’ll bring it into the utility which is the coolest room in the house. We’re in the countryside & I’ve only ever seen mice (sometimes in the house 🙈) and no rats so hopefully the box should be ok. I’ll keep checking on it.

@corbally - lol, no devastation going on!
