I’m going to hospital this morning for a chest X-ray but I’ve been up
Since 3.30.
My head is pounding due to intense coughing.
My local dr’s have been amazing. I finish my antibiotics today( for pneumonia) but started steroids yesterday. I have very well controlled asthma but my lungs are just fucked.
I’m so fed up of this bloody virus.

Apparently it’s not Covid. I’ve had 3 negative PCR s but I haven’t been this unwell for years and years.

I could cry I’ve been ill for nearly 5 weeks.

Someone chat with me. 🙏🏻

Oh I’m so sorry to hear this. Our family have been unwell too with bad chests (not covid) and it’s just so awful not being able to get any rest - are you sleeping? Mine was so much worse when I lay down.

My mother is on week 11 of an awful cough - she’s had X-rays, blood tests, antibiotics and nothing helps/no diagnosis. She’s now waiting on an ENT referral. She did say gargling aspirin helps ?

Have you got people with you to look after you ? A box set for the tv to take your mind off it for a few mins?

We've been ill with a non covid virus for almost 4 weeks now and it sucks. We haven't been poorly for a couple of years, so it feels like our immune systems don't know what to do!

The coughing is awful and you feel like a leper if you cough anywhere but at home. We've cancelled seeing family because I don't want to give them this.

On the upside, I've started knitting the scarf that antches the hat I knitted in the autumn and I've almost finished the book I'm reading. And I'm flying through good girls on Netflix.

You ready for Christmas?

It's rough when you are feeling that ill, but it sounds like this is the first time for you with something like this? So basically healthy generally?

Sorry your so unwell OP. I hope the chest x-ray goes well and you finally get some answers and help you need. How are you feeling this morning? Try to have something to eat before you go for your x-ray if you can, theres nothing worse than sitting starving waiting for appointments. Have the steroids started to kick in?

ihatethecold · 21/12/2021 07:17

I am generally fit and well. My inhaler manages my asthma well.
I’ve not been hospitalised since I was a kid.
In terms of xmas. A food shop is coming later. My dh has finished work for xmas. He has been amazing.
He’s been doing physio on my back to help me clear my chest.

I miss walking the dogs. The last time I went out and accompanied my dh I was doing a funeral March in the field. Came home and went to sleep.

I done my food shop yesterday - shops were absolutely madness i wish i had booked a delivery slot! My brother is badly asthmatic as well, the cold weather catches his chest and he winds up breathless. It must be really awful for you too. Its lovely to hear your DH is helping you recover too - hopefully the hospital can prescribe something to help open your airways a bit more and get you through this. Do you find your asthma worsens with the weather too?

jackstini · 21/12/2021 07:58

Oh that's rubbish when you feel so awful. I remember my DH having pneumonia and it knocked him for 6 so on top of everything else for you it must be exhausting

Glad you've got a slot booked and hope there are some treats on it to make you feel a bit better

Your DH sounds fab Smile

What time is your appointment?
Do you want to tell us about your dogs?
