I had a problem with my very old boiler recently. I booked a repair through British Gas / Local Heroes. The engineer more or less said the repairs might be more than the boiler was worth, but that he could fit a new one which would have a 10 year guarantee instead. I went with the new boiler.
For the fitting, the engineer asked not to go through the Local Heroes scheme, and asked me if he could invoice me directly. Again, I agreed to this.
I am happy with the boiler and the work done. However, I have now had notification that I am shortly to receive the registration certificate. The issue is that the installer details the boiler manufacturer has been given are for a completely different installation company, for a different installation date.
I'm trying to figure this out. Is this some sort of dodge which will render my guarantee invalid? Is this a mail scam going round? There's nothing asking me for personal details in the current email, but that doesn't mean there won't be in a follow up. I don't see how it could be a mistake as nobody suddenly forgets they're Bob The Boiler.Ltd from Brighton, and thinks they're Bill The Burner.Ltd from Bridgewater instead.
Any insights appreciated.
