Lost my tabs on iPad.

Have tried everything. Have even used the IT department Aka my adult kids. No luck. + icon long touch doesn’t work. HELP !!!

I'm not sure what you mean by tabs?
Google? It's fixed my ipad issue this morning!

If you don’t know what a tab is, I doubt you can help me.

are you able to find them from your search history and then restore them?

Couple of ideas -

Right-click a blank space on the tab bar at the top of the window and choose "Reopen closed tab."

Or

Launch the Safari browser app on iOS/iPadOS.
Tap on the Book icon on the safari window.
Select the History icon tab.
Tap on the Link to reopen the recently closed tab.

Have you changed from separate to compact tabs ?

I did this as well, after I updated my iPad to the newest OS. I switched away from private browsing, and when I switched back the tabs weren’t there. It was very odd and I still don’t understand what happened. I’m not normally so unsavvy; like your kids I can usually help my parents/grandparents/colleagues but I didn’t have an answer this time and Google didn’t help either. Fortunately I didn’t have anything important there that I lost so didn’t spend too long thinking about it. It’s not happened again to me since.

My IT department is quite competent and they’ve already tried all those things. And I’ve never used compact tabs.

Maybe I should have explained more. I had about 20 tabs open, some of them weeks old, so I can’t just find them in my history. Also the “reopen recently closed tab” option simply isn’t showing up. And I’m using the latest iOS.

I know what a tab is, but you didn't specify it was tabs in your ipad web browser! Which app are you using?

If by app you mean browser well it is safari

This happened to me. If you press, I think, on the plus sign, a drop down list appears. Click on merge windows. They will all appear! Good Luck

Rugbycomet, that used to work but doesn’t on the latest IOS.

I have had mine disappear before, not idea how, but I find if I double tap on the home button it brings up all the open windows. Usually in there is the tab with all the open website tabs. Hopefully this is what you mean and this helps you.

Real long shot (and I’m not optimistic- as I said I think this happened to me and I gave up) but if you tap on the four squares in the top right hand corner, then on merge all tabs does anything come back? Screenshot attached.

Sorry OP, but mine has been like that for months now. I always open loads of tabs instead of clicking back and forward. Now, only the first main tab shows in history...the rest never do.

There is no window to merge, I think the horse bolted out the stable awhile ago but thank you everyone for trying to help.

I think if you click on the divided rectangle on the very top left hand corner and fiddle with that, it may work. I’ve just clicked on it and it tells me I have five tabs open which is correct. I’ve not then clicked on anything further but try that….

If I hold the plus it brings up a list of recently closed tabs (obviously assuming they've closed down somehow)
