Feeling very sorry for myself today.

Day 5 of my DD (7) having a severe ear infection in both ears. Poor thing is in absolute agony and hasn't been eating or sleeping. I've been alternating ibuprofen and calpol plus antibiotics but she's still in pain. She's not been sleeping (she isn't the greatest sleeper at the best of times) and can barely put her head on her pillow without screaming and crying. We are both so so exhausted. Partner has been working and hasn't been much help. My DD is Autistic and has a learning disability so she struggles to communicate her needs and is, understandably, getting very frustrated with feeling so poorly and being in pain. I just feel so exhausted. Not sure the reason for this post, I guess some words of wisdom or support. I don't know how I'm going to get through another day without help from someone.

Poor both of you, can the Doctor prescribe something for her. Would your dd tolerate a wheat bag or something similar on her ear.

OP please ring GPs and insist on stronger painkillers. You need to rest and and so does she - they have to help.

She can't tolerate anything on either of her ears, I've tried a warm flannel etc. I don't know why I didn't even think about asking for stronger pain killers. I'll call them today.

Ear infections are horrific. Would she consider some ear muffs? I agree with insisting on stronger medication. I hope she feels better soon.
