Fave to face job interview today

I've got an interview today for a teaching position. I've been asked to teach a lesson and will have the normal interview part face to face.

Seems so odd to expose me, all the staff I come in to contact with and the children to a higher risk catching covid right before Christmas.

I normally wouldn't be too fussed. I had covid in September. I'm actually not bothered about Xmas day but I'm seeing family after Christmas and seeing a friend who's home from Oving abroad straight after that. Of I test positive I'd have to miss out on both of these so feel a bit sketchy about this.

I'm really hoping they call this morning and say it will be a remote interview. What do you all think the chances of that happening are? Am I right to be cautious?

No I doubt it will, I’m sure they will ask you to lateral flow and you can wear a mask though. They want to see you teach and interact with kids so want you in school, the actual interview could be done remotely though

I doubt they’ll change at this late stage. Is it to start after Xmas? The guidance doesn’t say to change anything in schools and we’ve had supply in. I guess they want to see what your teaching is like, understandably.

From what I have heard from friends the job centre are still expecting people to come in for face to face appointments.

For the few schools and workplaces still open next week, there will be a lot of bodies crowded in together. Perhaps some will wear a mask and use sanitiser.

You are free to spend the day in crowded pubs or shops if you felt like it. These places are often poorly ventilated.

You could go on a plane as well if you were that determined to go abroad and the other Country will let you in.

Unless they announce a lockdown with immediate effect then I doubt they will change the job interview to a remote one.

Chances are there will be mitigations.

If you get the job then you’ll have to teach however everyone else is teaching. Even if we do lockdown there isn’t a guarantee that schools will move to remote learning even if the rest of us are supposed to stay at home.

I think this depends heavily on the school and SLT as to how guidance is interpreted and how cautious they are being.

If it’s anything like the school I work in, it will stay as a face to face interview certainly for the teaching part. For the governor and head teacher part they will likely social distance and wear masks in a larger room if available or limit numbers in the head’s office, wear masks and ventilate.

Wishing you all the best for your interview.
