I can't handle spice/heat but we're having an Indian takeaway tonight for DS birthday. Any suggestions?

My MIL can’t handle spice and has butter chicken.

Mumdiva99 · 19/12/2021 14:05

Tandoori chicken (1/4) or chicken shashlick, naan or chapatti, and a ved side dish - saag aloo.

Mumdiva99 · 19/12/2021 14:06

Veg side dish that should say.

Boiled rice.

JuniorMint · 19/12/2021 14:08

I’m a vegetarian and don’t really like sauce so I get some starters like onion bhaji, veg pakora and veg samosa and have with a few spoonfuls of rice and either naan or chapati.

Mindymomo · 19/12/2021 14:09

Chicken korma is a coconut flavoured mild creamy curry.

Fatgalslim · 19/12/2021 14:20

I have a badamee which is about the same heat at a korma and has cashews and boiled egg

Yummmg · 19/12/2021 14:23

Buscopan is a miracle worker for me when I know a food could trigger ibs flare up.
Have you tried it?

alexdgr8 · 19/12/2021 14:24

i think you need to add the word restaurant to the title.

Megacervixosaurus · 19/12/2021 14:25

Tarka daal and saag paneer.

Squirrelblanket · 19/12/2021 14:51

Tandoori mixed grill!

Papertrail392 · 19/12/2021 14:53

Thanks everyone.

alexdgr8 why? Everyone managed to figure out what I meant, as cryptic as it was 🙄

I think she's suggesting that it's racist

Papertrail392 · 19/12/2021 14:59

GoodVibesHere oh right, I had no idea that was racist. Everyone I know says indian/chinese/Italian. Didn't know we were a bunch of racists! My apologies to anyone I've offended.

LuchiMangsho · 19/12/2021 15:02

Nah as an Indian it’s not racist. Not to me personally. I also worked out you meant restaurant. Maybe some people might be offended.
Anyway, what Indian people eat when they have dodgy bowels is rice and dal and some sort of vegetarian side dish? But mainly rice and dal.

PickAChew · 19/12/2021 15:03

@Megacervixosaurus

Tarka daal and saag paneer.
One of my local restaurants does a tarka Dal that it describes as medium hot. It hurts to eat!
Megacervixosaurus · 19/12/2021 15:06

Oh really, my local Indians Tarka Daal is almost tasteless, there’s a hint of coconut but that’s about it.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 19/12/2021 15:12

I'd just have mushroom rice, a poppadum and maybe a peshwari naan. I'd lay off the curry completely, as much as I love it.

LightDrizzle · 19/12/2021 15:18

A biryani.

Mrgrinch · 19/12/2021 15:22

I knew someone would jump to call you racist, just ignore it.

RainbowBabyForChristmasPlease · 19/12/2021 15:28

Chicken, vegetable or prawn Korma or passanda for me. Or on the odd occasion butter chicken. Anything else is way too spicy and I'd be 💩ing for England after it

gogohm · 19/12/2021 15:32

Plain rice and a curry without dairy - I would opt for a Chana daal and an mushroom bhaji personally, or perhaps tandoori chicken if I wanted meat. Dairy is your worst enemy with such issues

SweetGrapes · 19/12/2021 15:36

As another local indian... Overcooked sticky rice, lime juice, watery daal (no tadka) Grin

LuchiMangsho · 19/12/2021 15:42

Yeah no tadka- dal without tadka! My mum would also give me boiled potatoes cooked very lightly in cumin and turmeric.
NOT a biriyani! I mean at least not what I consider a biriyani which is rich and heavy and oily.

Goldenphoenix · 19/12/2021 15:47

My bowels are super dodgy (Crohn's). My fave is chicken tikka, pilau rice and sag paneer. Mmm
