999 or 101?

I live next to a school and heard a loud noise outside. A group of men have broken into thr playground and are making a lot of noise. I've called 101 but been on hold for 20 mins. I feel like it's not serious enough to call 999 as I don't know if a crime is being committed as it sounds like a group of lads just being silly. But they are still there and 101 aren't answering. Do I carry on holding or call 999?

999 "crime is in progress"

So I called 999 and they said they would send someone out. Said I definitely did the right thing by calling.

2 hours later and nothing has happened. I called 999 back again as they are still walking around with a torch. Again told I've done the right thing.

Given up getting any sleep tonight 😒
