Flavoured vodka

My Christmas pudding vodka has been a great success. I want to try pear drop flavour after Christmas
What other flavours have people tried? I'm not sure about skittles vodka, isn't it too sweet?

Mars bar flavour is good, or toffee flavour.

I've made some blueberry vodka this year, with blueberries from the garden.

ohfourfoxache · 18/12/2021 16:54

After Eight vodka is currently brewing

Werthers Original vodka is lush

RepentBirthingPersonFucker · 18/12/2021 16:56

Do the sweets/chocolate just disintegrate or does it need straining like the Christmas pudding?

You can take the froth off the top of the werthers original (or just keep shaking it so that the consistency is creamier)

Mint aero forms a thick crust over the surface which makes it impossible to pour

Not sure what’s going to happen with the after 8’s….

Chasingsquirrels · 18/12/2021 17:01

I've done Werthers Originals for DP the last few years.
I did him pear drop the first year as well, he drank it but preferred the toffee.
Ds2 is currently doing Skittles fir his step sister. That look like it might need straining.

ohfourfoxache · 18/12/2021 17:01

I’ve been standing the containers in hot water to get the chocolate to melt quicker

Chasingsquirrels · 18/12/2021 17:02

Pear drop was just totally clear, lovely pink colour!

RepentBirthingPersonFucker · 18/12/2021 19:23

Did you all just guess the amounts or follow a recipe?
I really fancy the after eight one

Vanilla bean and coffee. Just steep in the fridge then strain. Pour over ice cream like an affogato with a kick. Add some warm chocolate sauce and cream if you feel like it. Maybe some nuts 😃

Quickchangeartiste · 18/12/2021 19:32

Oh, I/3 of a cafetière filled with ground coffee, I split vanilla pod, 2/ 3 vodka.

MilduraS · 18/12/2021 19:36

BBC good food has a recipe for Turkish delight vodka. I haven't tried it yet but the reviews are positive.

misscockerspaniel · 18/12/2021 20:06

Rose petal vodka is lush and tastes of Turkish delight, so the BBC Good Food recipe sounds good.

ohfourfoxache · 18/12/2021 21:45

The after 8 I’ve used approximately 1L vodka: 4 packs after 8’s…..there is still quite a bit left to melt so you might want to add gradually

Please note I have no patience! Grin

Honey vodka is lovely.

RepentBirthingPersonFucker · 19/12/2021 11:44

I don't know if I fancy honey flavoured. I do love honey Jack Daniels
Do you just put honey in or are there other ingredients

OP posts:
AlfonsoTheUnrepentant · 19/12/2021 11:50

Just honey.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 19/12/2021 14:16

Cough candy twists are surprisingly nice, as are blackcurrant and liquorice. Quite fancy trying pineapple chunks and the peardrop one.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 19/12/2021 14:17

Seem to remember reading that if you put the bottle in the dishwasher the contents melt quickly

MsFanciful · 19/12/2021 14:27

@Chasingsquirrels - they sound gorgeous! Can I be really cheeky and ask for an idiot-proof recipe please? Xmas Blush

Chasingsquirrels · 19/12/2021 15:51

We just got a couple of big packs of skittles, split them into colours (ate the purple ones cos we only had 4 mini bottles), filled the bottles about 1/3rd full of skittles and topped up with vodka.

I'd take a picture but they are hidden with the toffee vodka for DP and he's here atm.

My favourite one has been the pink pear drop one though, it was a lovely colour and no "scum" on the top.

Having said that, I don't drink alcohol so can't comment on what they taste like!

Chasingsquirrels · 19/12/2021 15:52

The first time I did them was after I'd read the dishwasher method. Having put them through 3 cycles I gave up and just theft them for a week with a weekly shake.
StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 20/12/2021 11:49

Ha just as well as i don't have a dishwasher 😁 i am wanting werthers vodka now though 👍🏻

TonTonMacoute · 20/12/2021 13:06

Vodka flavoured with sweets sounds yucky bizarre, can't imagine vodka that tastes of Werthers Originals!

I have a big garden so I usually have left over fruit - I have blackberry vodka waiting to be decanted for Christmas, did plum vodka last year.

Chasingsquirrels · 20/12/2021 13:09

I meant a daily shake!

Just checked them, the Skittles don't seem to be dissolving well - photo pre shake with scum on the top, and post shake.
The Werthers is all dissolved.

I've now stood the skittles ones in mugs of hot water to help them along.
