Chest pain

MargeSimpson00 · 18/12/2021 08:11

Sorry to post in chat, just looking for quick replies. 2 days ago I developed muscular pain in my stomach. Exactly like pulled muscles after doing sit ups but I couldn't think of a cause. It's eased a bit now but I've woken up with chest pains, inbetween my breasts, slightly to the left. It's a dull ache coming in waves. Negative covid test, I'm 38 and generally healthy. Any ideas please?

Does the pain change on movement at all?

LickYouLikeACrispPacket · 18/12/2021 08:14

Don’t mess about with chest pain. You need to be seen now and get checked. Hopefully it’s just a muscular pain or something but time is of the essence

MargeSimpson00 · 18/12/2021 08:14

No, not at all. Just comes and goes in waves every few minutes. It's not particularly painful, just uncomfortable and of course a bit worrying.

The fact that it doesn't change on movement would make it less likely to be muscular. Agree you should get checked out.

Does it hurt if you press down where the pain is?
Whilst usual provisos about getting chest pain checked out apply I suffer terribly with choctochondritis which causes breathtaking pain. GP diagnosed after a weekend of me being terrified by pressing down where I said it hurt. I nearly shot through the roof.

Ibuprofen and other anti inflammatories help.

If you don't think it's that, or heartburn please ring 111 (probably should anyway tbf as none of us are qualified to diagnose you over the net)

Was hoping someone would say oh that's definitely X, just rest! Ds birthday today and we have an activity booked this morning but will go straight after

No, it doesn't. Little more tender on the left than the right when I press but doesn't hurt as such. Definitely not heartburn

Pointless ringing 111 they will send you straight to a&e. I honestly wouldn't bother. Their system says chest pain = a&e, or they may even send an ambulance. If you can get a lift to a&e yourself I would just go.

We have a walk in with an xray department etc. Will go there. Thanks everyone

How are you feeling op?

MargeSimpson00 · 18/12/2021 14:33

Still the same, in a&e now. Urgent care told me to come straight here

I did wonder if you might be sent there. They don't mess around with chest pain. Hope you have been seen now and have an idea of what is going on.

Stormwhale · 19/12/2021 09:06

Hey op, how did you get on?

MargeSimpson00 · 20/12/2021 20:32

Sorry I haven't been back. I had bloods and an ecg then sat for 6 hours waiting to see the doctor. Unfortunately I had to leave in the end, my neighbour was watching dc and had to get to work. Given that a young woman with a bruised foot who arrived after me was seen and on her way home before me told me they hadn't found anything concerning. The pains carried on until this morning and then stopped, still don't know what caused it but glad it's gone. Thanks for the advice everyone

Are you particularly stressed op? My dm had a lot of chest pains, and after all the tests it turned out to be stress and anxiety.
