I had some great butchers stripe ones from JL but they have died after 20 years use

I have some which DH bought me for Christmas or birthday (gasp! A kitchen item for a present Grin) which he saw on Bake Off. They are actual gloves with the kind of sticky bits you get on the soles of fluffy socks. They are amazing

Orka silicone ones, mine are about 10 years old and still like new

Gladioli23 · 17/12/2021 20:31

You need Aga oven gloves or Le Creuset - they are the thickest most effective ones we have.

Iamanicepersonreally · 17/12/2021 20:31

Mine are from Lakeland. There really good

Iamanicepersonreally · 17/12/2021 20:44

*they're really good 🙂

I have Emma Bridgewater ones. They are lovely and soft inside, thick enough to stop.my hands getting burnt and have a pretty pattern. I love them.

We have a couple of pairs like the ones in @cortex10 link. They are perfect as they are flexible and heatproof so you don’t feel like you are about to drop heavy dishes.

BruceAndNosh · 17/12/2021 20:57

Zeal Steam stop ones.
Nothing comes close

thirddayout · 17/12/2021 20:59

You mean you don't have Joy Division Oven Gloves??

DonGray · 18/12/2021 09:28

Thanks all - the aga ones look good - I prefer a gauntlet style

Le Creuset. Double sided. I thought they were a massive indulgence but a decade on I still love them.

I bought some form JL I think. Then after a couple of months it smelt like something had died in the kitchen. Like, wet and sloppy dead. We took all the kickboards off, looked behind everything, checked the trap at the back of the fridge etc - but it turned out to be the oven gloves. They had a label on them that said something about being washable twice - as in wash them two times and not more. And then I went on a hunt and read the label of every oven gloves in every shop and there were loads that weren't washable at all, and some that you could only wash two or three times before they smelt like rotting flesh, and then proper wash them every week at 60 with the tea towels for the next 10 years ones. So read the label!

These are slightly cheaper than the official AGA gauntlets but otherwise the same. Best ones I've ever had.

Are they washable? I couldn't find that info on the site

Oven gauntlets from Lakeland. Best oven gloves I ever had. They go right up to your elbows. You'll never scorch your forearm on the oven door again!

Also they have five fingers like gloves so you have more dexterity than with the mitten type ones and they are easily washable.

SummerOfComedy · 18/12/2021 10:59

Yes I recommend Le Crueset. I remember them being expensive at the time, but 20 years on,they're still going strong, but maybe a bit threadbare around the edges.

spinachpie · 18/12/2021 11:02

I don't have these unfortunately but they are nice:
oven gloves

ShortDaze · 18/12/2021 11:02
I agree - with the added bonus that they aren’t huge, so the DC can use them safely. All my other pairs are a bit big on me, but unsafely big on the DC (tweens).
yikesanotherbooboo · 18/12/2021 11:11

Masterclass silicone gauntlets.AGA owner so have tried loads.

PurpleMoonbows · 18/12/2021 15:15

These are mine and they make me smile when I use them 😊
